A Conscious Effort to Drink More...

Let's talk about the weather.

No...

For real.

It's been super duper hot here (not complaining) and...

More so than ever before...

I've been keeping myself hydrated. (Trust me, that's a big deal)

Actually...

To be honest...

The heat has been a blessing of sorts because usually...

I have a really hard time drinking anywhere close to the suggested amount of aqua in a day that...

I've been doing a really good job at getting more H2O into my system. (before I get thirsty for water!)

Teddy's proud :P

If anything...

Ever since the blazing sun has been shining its rays upon us...

I've been extremely mindful about drinking water which...

Is perhaps slowly becoming a habit?! (Which would be a good thing!)

So...

Moving forward...

Even if things do cool down over the next few days...

I'm going to do my best to keep myself hydrated! (I think I've just set a goal for myself! lol)

Okay okay...
Coffee doesn't count.

I mean...

In the end...

Our bodies need to be watered, just like plants do (although not to the same capacity obviously) so...

I really do think it would be wise for me to make more of a conscious effort to take care of my being so that it can bloom, branch out, flourish, sprout function to its FUll capacity.

Why wait until the plant needs watering right?

Gosh...

Good thing I don't have any living greens in the house :P (Nothing wrong with getting a cactus hehe)

Questions FU You...

Are you mindful about drinking the recommended amount of water a day?
Is it hot where you are?
What are you doing to keep cool?
Thirsty?

Filling in the blanks...

Don't you find that...

Our schedules often seem to be filled with things to do or get done that...

It's not often that we can sit still and allow ourselves to slow down even for just a minute. (let alone tame this inner-urge to keep busy all the time when you actually have a blank spot in your schedule)

You mean to say we should stop...
And smell the flowers?

As we find ourselves craving this need to be/keep busy (for the most part, although perhaps not you)...

You will seldom get a response from anyone stating that they actually have nothing to do or a millions places to be at once when asked "how's it going?"

Although funny how, often times, someone's immediate response to that question is "I've been busy". I've totally said it when in reality, I wasn't - so I had to correct myself.

Of course...

This isn't all true for everyone but...

For the sake of today's post...

Let's just focus on this inner-need to keep ourselves moving. (because sitting still is just far too much effort) ;)

*

Personally...

It's not that I'm ubber busy (not always anyway) with a ton of things to do or check off my list but...

I really do enjoy those moments of stillness where...

I have absolutely nothing on/in my mind.

Nothing to exercise in my brain, nothing to worry or think about just...

Clarity, in those moments my physical self has nothing to do and/or my mind is need of figuring out. (Meditation is good for that.)

If anything...

When I do get empty slots within my day to be still (whether it comes naturally or by effort/choice)...

These are moments that I'm coming to appreciate more and more. (Rather than feeling more and more antsy lol)

And, as a result...

This urge to fill in the void in my schedule thus becomes less of a need. (Scheduling breathers is not a bad idea. Think of it as a little break, for the self)

In other words...

For those mere seconds or minutes (and even hours the best of times) I do have (planned or not) to be FUlly present, without anywhere to be, anything to do or think about...

I am grateFUl that I have that time to just be. (To feel your very own presence is really quite an experience when you are able to identify with your very self in those moments and, see you for you.)

All to say...

If there's one thing I've learned about having nothing to fill in the gaps with it's...

Gratitude.

Gratitude for those blocks in my day to be still.

To breathe.

To let my mind rest and my body relax.

To allow my being to be present, in the company of me.

To allow the world around me stop, even if briefly, so that I can take a moment to be grateful for being in the now.

So...

Perhaps...

The next time you find yearning to fill in the blanks...

Stop.

And appreciate the stillness of being able to pause and catch your breath.

It's good for you.
