Cruising ~ Part I: Exploring The Seas!

Alas...

Our holiday is officially over. (Wanh wanh!)

That being said...

I do have plenty of memories to share from our vacation away, disconnected, while cruising the open seas with Royal Caribbean.

So...

Sit back, relax, and come with me as we sail cruise back to the beginning of it all!

**

After making our way to Newark, New Jersey...

We met up with the family! (I LOVE family vacations!)

Once we checked in to our hotel and threw our suitcases in our room (perhaps literally lol)...

We decided to make our way to Manhattan, New York considering how close we were! (The original plan was to visit the Cake Boss Bakery, but it proved not to work in our favour!)

One shuttle ride to the train station later...

We found ourselves on the train...

Then the subway...

Then...

Amongst the bright lights! (Honestly, the trip to Manhattan was an adventure it itself and wasn't quite as smooth as I've laid it out to be lol Let's just say, there was a lot of waiting, asking, turning around, and more waiting lol)

After doing the typical tourist thing (how could one resist?!)...

We made our way to a nearby burger joint...

We had amazing burgers!

Then...

Continued to roam the streets of NYC! (I ended up buying the most amazing gummy bears....actually, the most expensive gummies I've ever bought in my life!!! They were worth every penny mind you lol)

You realize I become a child when exposed to such environments ;)
The same goes for SuperFit when he sees Lego lol

If there's one anything from our NYC adventure that I will never forget it's...

The look on my sister's face the moment we got off the subway and she was faced with big, bright lights! (The lights were so bright, it would make anyone's face shine bright, literally! But truly, her face was priceless!)

***

As we awoke the next day...

It was time to board The Explorer of the Seas

The moment we checked-in at the Bayonne Port (Cape Liberty)...

We toured around the boat...

The Royal Promenade.

Snapped a few pictures...

Bye bye cold weather!

Then...

Made our way to our stateroom! (Where our luggage would be waiting for us. Good thing because we didn't want to lug around 50lbs of stuff with us lol)

We went to the gym first thing.
We were excited to check it out and...
Pump it up ;)

Soon enough...

We would be getting ready for the welcoming show...

But first...

We had to get our fill of Starbucks (yes, there's Starbucks on the boat!)...

Later followed by...

Dinner in the main dining room! (Where we would have dinner every night (except for one) throughout our entire trip! It was really nice because this was the one time of day where we would gather all together, seated (and not in motion, touring, running, what have you lol) and speak to our most favourite parts of the day!)

 **

As we would be sailing for two and a half days before we reached our first port of call...

It didn't take us long before we got settled in to our new digs, ready to...

Enjoy our new life aboard the Explorer! (Alongside 3100 people, about!)

***

Next up...

Prepare yourself for our adventures in...

San Juan, Puerto Rico
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Samana, Dominican Republic
Labadee, Haiti.

Questions FU You...

Have you ever been on a cruise? Or to NYC?
Would you ever consider going on a cruise? (I always fear motion sickness because I suffer from it, greatly. That being said, I only needed to take my Ginger Non-Drowsy Gravol once throughout the whole trip! WIN!)

  7. I've been on one cruise -- thought I'd hate it, but actually quite enjoyed it. And, one of my favorite times -- like you mentioned -- was gathering up everyone in out party in the dining room, it was fun to watch the kids order "fancy foods."

  14. Love all of the pictures! I have been to NYC a few times, it's definitely an experience but not someplace I could see myself living or anything. Great place to visit though. I have not been on a cruise but I hope to one day and think it would be a really fun experience!
