As I've been on the road since Saturday...
I thought I would keep you up to date on how I've been staying on track while away from home.
As I've offered my tips before on keeping healthy while travelling...
I wanted to FUrther show you what is I've been doing in keeping to my commitment to health living alive and well! (Even if I'm not surrounded by what is familiar to me.)
If anything...
Planning ahead works wonders and...
Being creative with what you've got goes a long way too ;)
Aside from packing my must-haves:
Egg Whites (You know I love me my Burnbrae Farms, back before I found myself over at there place!)
Protein Powder
Flax Seeds
Oats
Stevia (I brought NOW Vanilla Stevia with me)
Magic Bullet (+mug <--I should have brought more than one!)
Spoon
As well as:
Running Shoes
Training Gloves
Workout Clothes
In addition to those things...
So grateFUl for this awesome bag I got from Core Power. |
In addition to those things...
Having a fridge and microwave is always worth asking for too! (And if you can't get either, bringing a cooler and a kettle goes a long way!)
Also...
Scoping out the hotel gym in advance, or fitness centres around town is always worth exploring before your departure so you know what's available to you and whether or not you should bring some of your own equipment such as...
TRX
Mat
If anything...
Don't stress about not being able to stay on track because...
You can, you just have to plan ahead and be prepared! (And if you fall 'off track', know that it's not the end of the word. Get back up again, and keep on going!)
Having said all that...
Here's a glimpse into what I've been eating while on the road!

OOOH I LOVE LOVE LOVE to do the hardboiled egg in the hotel java maker!!
ReplyDeleteOnly now do I remember that post! I must do that the next time around!
DeleteHotel eating is SO doable - and being picky with menus ;)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Kierston! I am a definite planner, and it makes SO MUCH of a difference, you can save money, time, and stress by taking what you need and looking up things beforehand. With my training I really need to prepare where I can get my runs in, do my strength training exercises, and even what I need to consume to get the right nutrition while traveling. You do a great job, and it pays off! I hope many others read this and learn from you :)
ReplyDeletePlanning definitely goes a long while...so if you want to ensure you stay on track, you gotta plan it out...ahead of time :) Thanks for your words!
DeleteGreat tips. I have a trip next week and already am planning the snacks to bring along. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou are always so creative! I plan ahead too, it helps me feel more confident that I'll have some healthy options.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura! Yes, it's definitely reassuring knowing that you're prepared! :)
DeleteThis is all so awesome, Kiersten! Everyone is ALWAYS on the go these days, and these tips are great. By the way, this "on-the-go" fact is the REASON for my nut butter line packaging. It's been hush-hush, and I can't wait to launch it! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat tips - it just takes a little bit of planning is all and you really can be healthy on the road. I always bring my own oats, PB, protein powder. Sometimes I'll just premeasure into ziploc baggies to make it easier. I will also pack resistance bands b/c not all gyms have free weights. I've even brought along workout DVDs like boxing or kickboxing ;-)
ReplyDeleteI definitely had ziploc baggies with me too! And yes to the resistance bands! Love those :)
DeleteI usually order plain oats and berries from the hotel and mix in my own powder and often coffee to make it a mocha. They always over-serve so it's enough for 2-3 breakfasts!
ReplyDeleteLove that you travel with your bullet! I've taken to begging the lobby Starbucks to blend my creations. They usually do it! ;)
Ha! Awesome! I've definitely asked SB for some protein powder when I've run low!
DeleteGood on you for being so organized and dedicated. How I wish I had one of those mini blenders when I was travelling for work so much. I think that is such a good investment!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. I'm grateful that it was a gift. It has gone a LONG way...pun intended hehe
DeleteWhenever I am traveling I ALWAYS book a hotel with a nice gym and.... It's always a HUGE PLUS if the hotel room I book has a kitchen or at least a fridge and a microwave. I feel like this is becoming more standard as well, or maybe I just am a creature of habit and stay at the same hotel chains where ever I go!
ReplyDeleteAmazing job staying on track while on the road.
ReplyDeleteHave not been traveling so.. BUT love your ideas & that recipe!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, we use the same when we travel. Always bring cups, protein, trx, etc. It gets easier once you get the hang of it, right?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. It actually becomes habit. I remember my first time away while beginning on my healthy living journey..I had a LONG list of things lol
DeleteGreat recipe. I haven't traveled much lately but I always bring running shoes and a workout outfit.... no matter where or how short the trip. Plus healthy snacks of course.
ReplyDeletePlanning always makes me feel like I've got a little piece of home with me so I can get the job done!
ReplyDeleteI love that "a little piece of home".
DeleteI bring my resistance band with me everywhere I travel to cause you can get a guaranteed workout with one of those bad-boys no matter where you are!
ReplyDeleteI am heading to Montreal next week for work, so I am definitely stealing some of these awesome tips so I can stay on track!
ReplyDeleteWoop! Happy to hear you'll be taking some of these tips with you to MTL. Safe travels xo
DeleteI love these tips - it is absolutely possible to stay on track on the road. I feel like more hotels are offering good gyms, which really helps too. And great overnight oats recipe!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! Hotels are more aware and mindful now of healthy living. It's really nice to see :)
