#RECIPEFRIDAY: Poppin' Banana Chocolate Protein 'Bread' Pudding

Finally...

I have a new recipe to share!

This picture is so old.
It dates back before I went blonde and then...
Back to brown lol

As it's now been one week since returning home from being on the road for a while...

I've been able to settle back into my routine with every day that passes.

No doubt...

It's been really nice to relax in my own space, surrounded by those I love!

What's been really FUn too is the fact that...

I've able to squeeze myself into SuperFit's schedule so that...

He could train me one on one! (I seriously love it when he trains me!)

He made me a new Glutes Workout.
This was Monday.
I'm still sore lol

Honestly...

I missed that big push he gives me to go FUrther in my lifting! (And in all other areas of my life.)

I also missed his insane sweat sessions he teaches.
So.Good.

I think it goes without saying....

It feels good to be back into the groove of things...

Not only at home, and in the gym but also...

In the kitchen too!

Zucchini Protein Bites.
Berry Good GY Bowl ;)
Seared Tuna Steaks.
For SuperFit :)

Which bring me to my new recipe I'd like to share with you all!

I hope you enjoy it as much I have been!

Poppin' Banana Chocolate Protein 'Bread' Pudding

by *CaNdY FiT*
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 2.5 minutes (approx)
Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Zevia Cream Soda (optional - if you don't use it, split 1/4 with egg whites and water)
  • 1/4 cup Egg Whites
  • 1/2 Banana (mushed)
  • 1/2 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder (of choice)
  • 1 tsbp Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 4 drops NuNaturals Peppermint Stevia (or Stevia sweetener of choice)

Instructions
  1. In a microwave safe bowl, add your banana and 'mush' it with a fork (you can put it in the microwave to aid the process)
  2. Add the remaining ingredients the bowl, starting with the wet first
  3. Mix together with a spoon (or blend)
  4. Place your bowl in the microwave and cook for approximately 2.5 minutes (varies per microwave, simply ensure that it is cooked, but not until dry)
  5. Remove from microwave and enjoy!
As a Zevia CSP...
I wanted to try adding more of this fizzin' stevia sweetened cola to my baking!
It's been going great thus far :)

Optional
  • Feel free to add your favorite toppings, such a PB2, PB&Co, Greek Yogurt, Fresh Fruit etc.
  • You can also bake this blend for a different texture at 350F for about 15-20 minutes.

3 Ways To Practice Portion MindFUlness...

Portion mindFUlness is something I continue to work at day in and day out.

Let's start from the beginning shall we?

Ever since I was a wee little FU...

I've had a large appetite.

And I don't mean an average appetite when I say large...

I mean...

I've always been able to consume more than other's could imagine. (And sometimes, even myself. I only know this because people always used to comment on how much I ate.)

I remember going for Pho with The Masta when I was kid (and even hosting a birthday party at said restaurant)...

And ordering myself a large soup noodle, no meat, extra noodles.

I would eat it all.

As I grew older...

This appetite didn't dissipate.

I remember ordering the same thing while out with friends (many-a-times) and thinking...

"They only want a small bowl?! I could never feel satisfied with so little!"

Granted.
I ordered a medium here with a side of spring rolls.
Phoebs, this was one awesome night. I miss you!

Clearly...

My appetite has always been eyeing for more. Always more.

FUrthemore...

When it came to portion sizes...

I always wanted the plate with more food on it.

And to be perfectly honest...

I never came to think of portion sizes until I began on my healthy living journey.

I just figured that I could eat a lot and that's just the way it was. (And would always be.)

I didn't care that my portions were big. I was 'hungry'. And I was going to eat. Until I was FUll. Often times, until my stomach could handle no more.

It was mindless really.

It huuuuurts.

Presently...

Almost 4 years into healthy living...

I am mindFUl of not only the food I nourish myself with but...

How much my body actually requires for a healthy, happy me.

Of course...

There are times when I nourish myself a little more...

And...
I enjoy it a whole lot too!

But in speaking to the day to day aspect of it all...

I practice portion mindFUlness. (I'm working on the intuitive too!)

I don't want to say portion control because it sounds so harsh and limiting.

That said...

Portion mindFUlness is not something that came naturally...

It is something I had to work at! (And continue to, to this day)

I mean...

It's so easy to fall into a mindless state of eating where...

You  find yourself stuffing yourself not because you are hungry, but just because the food is there. To eat.

If anything...

Being mindFUl of the portions and food I consume...

This has resulted in my feeling better overall! (Both inside and out! I mean, the IBS I used to suffer from day in and day out is far from the same! Cleaning up my diet and mindFUlling portioning things out has also led me to discover some food sensitivities too!)

No doubt...

I have SuperFit to thank in sitting me down (back before we became a couple) and...

Believing that I could turn things around and live a healthy, FUlfilling life without actually...

Filling myself up carelessly and mindlessly.

Having shared all of that...

Here are 3 ways in which I practice portion mindFUlness:

1. Less is more: I don't need to fill my plate to be satisfied. The point is to nourish, not stuff. It feels much better to finish a meal, feeling FUll of energy, as opposed to FUll of food. I'd rather get up and go than plop myself on a couch, feeling drained from eating too much.
2. Slow down: Don't eat so fast. Honestly, this is something I still work at because I know I eat really fast. Chewing, tasting and swallowing is a three step process. Not one. Slowing myself down between each bite allows me to enjoy my meal that much more. It's not a race, it's a meal.
3. Savour: Savouring my food allows me to taste all of the flavours with each bite. To scarf my food down, this does not allow me to savour the food I am eating.

Questions FU You...

Are you mindFUl of your portion sizes?
Do you have any tips to add to the list?

Appreciate What You Have...

Hey Friends!

I hope this day finds you well and healthy :)

Now that I'm back home after a long sprint of being gone...

I'm happy to be surrounded by all things known!

I missed my babies ;)
Yogi and Zippy Bear are missing from this picture.

If anything...

Being away definitely has a way of making you appreciate more of what you have...

Be it...

Your own bed, to your very own utensils, to...

Those very little things that make your home, home.

Having said that...

I don't think I need to tell you...

How GrateFUl I've been feeling.

I decided to get crafty yesterday, and spread some love, on our walls.

No doubt...

I've been enjoying spending quality time with SuperFit, my family...

And of course...

The puppies!

The three amigos.

And in addition to that...

I've been loving being back at the gym! (And getting back into my own groove of things!)

Post (my new) Glutes Workout.
I love it when Coach SuperFit trains me :)

All to say...

In those moments when you feel like you are missing more of the things you believe would make your life more FUlfilling...

Pause for a second (or longer, much longer) and see...

How much you truly have (be it tangible or intangible) and...

Have a moment of gratitude to show some appreciation! (Inwardly and/or outwardly.)

As much as I do not like the cold temperatures...
I do appreciate the beauty it brings forth.

Questions FU You...

What is something/someone you appreciate right now?
Do you practice gratitude, or is it something that comes naturally?

The Groove, Accountability, Mindfulness and #RECIPEFRIDAY...

So what's cooking friends? (Keep that thought, we'll get to that soon!)

Today...
I'm making my way back to see this guy and of course...
SuperFit <3

As I've been on the road since Sunday...

I haven't had a chance to cook. (How I miss my kitchen!)

That being said...

I have been eating! (All of my meals and snacks!)

While I did bring with me a few nourishing necessities...

I did  make sure to special order a number of my meals! (Breakfast and lunch. I also made sure to tailor my dinners accordingly too...although I did enjoy myself a couple of tasty suppers as I wanted to experience some of the fine dining around here, while still being mindFUl with my choices at the same time.)

That glass was later filled with water.
Setting the mood with H20 ;)

To sum up my week briefly...

Not only did I find my groove again but...

I also held myself accountable to my exercise routine...

And...

To the food I nourished myself with too.

In other words...

I  practised mindFUlness, intuitiveness, moderation and balance. (Not being hard on myself and practising what I have learned throughout the years in my healthy living journey!)

Amazing Americano.
I love when they have Stevia available.
Room made Greek Yogurt Bowl.
Egg White Omelette filled with peppers, sundried tomatoes, onions, mushrooms.
And...
A side of smoked salmon.
Chicken, Squash and Spinash salad with dressing on the side.
Chicken bown filled with veggies.

Without a doubt...

I feel good about getting back into the groove and...

Proud of myself for holding myself accountable to those intentions I set out for myself at the onset of the week.

Now...

As I make my way back  home (and whine down)...

I'm looking to you to share with me your recipes that you've been making and loving this week in this edition of....

#RECIPEFRIDAY!

No doubt...

I can't wait to see what you've cooked up!

Have a great weekend my friends!

I just had to share another picture of my Bear hehe

What is something you are proud of this week?
Plans for the weekend?

Hold Yourself Accountable...

Because there is no one else more responsible for your own doings other than yourself.

As I am getting back into the healthy living groove while on the road (which isn't the most obvious thing to do)...

I am realizing more and more that...

I am responsible for my own health and well-being.

This treadmill and I have gotten to know each other very well this week.

In other words...

I am responsible for ensuring that I take the steps necessary to...

Take care of myself and...

Do what it takes to be the healthiest version of me one day at a time.

Even if I knew the significance of personal accountability the moment I started on my journey towards health and fitness...

The past few days have made me see (more and more) that...

Accountability isn't meant to last only until you've reached your goal(s) but...

It's meant to be practised at all times. (In all areas of your life.)

As much as having the support to...

Uplift you as you go along in your very own journey through life (I couldn't be more grateFUl for all the support, encouragement and motivation I've received in my entire lifetime)...

We still have to remember (in speaking specifically about health and fitness) that...

Healthy living is a lifestyle and...

It's a choice and commitment we have to make with our very own self.

We have to do what it takes to be our healthiest self. No one else can do it for you.

To add...

No one is more accountable for what you do other than you so that's why...

You (we all) have to take control of the decisions we make to ensure...

We get to where we want to go and...

Feel how we want to feel both inside and out.

I made the decision to get up extra early so that I could start my day fresh.
Knowing that by the end of the day, while on the road...
I am just exhausted and less likely to want to workout.

All to say...

Hold your own self accountable because...

The greatest level of accountability lies within you!

Starting this morning with a treadmill run and a biceps workout.

Questions FU You...

Do you find it difficult to hold yourself accountable when it comes to health and fitness?
What are some of the steps and decisions you have taken in holding yourself accountable towards the goals you seek? In all aspects of life.

Getting Back Into The Groove...

Finally.

Even though I'm back on the road...

I've been able to get back into my healthy living groove.

Although my days are filled...

I've been putting in a really big effort to ensure that I keep to my routine. (I'll be honest, some days it would be so much easier to call it a day and plop myself on my bed. That said, I remind myself of my own self-made commitment to my health.)

I have to be honest...

Last week was a tough one for me because I just couldn't seem to get into it but...

This week I pinched myself back into reality (not literally) and...

Snapped myself out of my FUnk! (And I'm glad I did! I had to!)

There's no denying though that sometimes...

We fall out of our routines, or we lose our motivation but...

As long as we find our way forward again...

That is the most important thing of all.

Healthy living is a lifestyle...

It's not about feeling bad or punishing one self for losing track...

It's about being healthy and starting every new day fresh with...

The desire to be your healthiest self.

I have to admit...
I do love me some alone time at the gym.
I FUels and re-energizes me.

My commitment to my overall well-being is an important one and...

I reFUse to go back to my sedentary ways.

Through the good and most difficult days (because I do have them!)...

I know that my desire to be healthy both in body and mind will always preside.

So....

As I continue on with my week...

Know that I am determined and ready for all that is to come my way.

One little bite at a time.

Questions FU You...

Have you ever lost your groove? On the road or at home?
How did you get your groove back?

Taking A Step Back and #RECIPEFRIDAY...

Hello my friends...

I hope you are well on this Friday morning :)

Hi :)

As you may (or may not) have realized...

I've been pretty quiet lately.

If anything...

This quietness has been a result of my need to step back a little and...

Focus on myself a little lot more. (A need to FUel and realign my inner-being with more time, for me.)

And to be quite honest...

I think being away for the first half of the week in Niagara Falls (for work) was....

A great beginning to my goal of bringing my attention to the now. (No matter how busy my schedule, I was going absorb life as it would unfold itself. All of it. Even with the migraine I suffered on Monday.)

BeautiFUl isn't it.

In other words....

My intention to...

Live in the present in addition to...

Giving myself the time to soak all of it in has enabled me to...

Learn from the many lessons that this personal exercise ended up teaching me. (Which I will share soon. I simply want to process them all first. Make sense?)

Savouring. Life.
I found myself sitting  here for long periods of time.
Enjoying. Presently. PeaceFUlly.

Even if I wasn't FUlly disconnected...

Whatever portions of my life that were...

It did me good on so many levels.

Having said that...

It made me realize that sometimes, or perhaps often times, we have a tendency to push our own needs aside until we 'make the time' to put our attention towards them. (And, this applies to all aspects of life, which isn't a 'good' thing.)

If anything...

After catching myself in my own traps I am learning more and more that...

I need to give myself more time to just be. (Consistently. Consistency being the key word.)

And that by being (right here, right now)...

I will be in a better position to honour myself in body, mind, and spirit.

So, I think it goes without saying...

It's only fair that I give myself this gift. :)

(Oprah and Deepak Chopra's meditation experience has come to me at the perfect time, especially after having enjoyed my last experience with them. If meditation is something you've been wanting to try out, it's not too late to sign up, for free.)

***

As I haven't been at home much....

I am solely relying on you today to fill me in on what you've been making and loving in this edition of...

#RECIPEFRIDAY!

Once I get back into my home routine...

I will make a point to get back into the swing of things in the kitchen too!

I can't wait to see what you've cooked up!

Have a great weekend everyone!

There's nothing quite like waking up to this face ;)
Oh and SuperFit's of course hehe

Questions FU You....

How much time do you give yourself a day to just be? (Separate from exercising)
How often do you disconnect partially or FUlly?
Plans for the weekend?
