Char Crust Dry-Rub Seasoning, Recipes and Giveaway!

Hey friends!

Let's cut straight to the chase shall we?!

K? K.

For the longest time...

I've been enjoying myself some Char Crust Dry-Rub Seasoning.

**Char Crust provided me with sample dry-rub seasoning to test out and giveaway. All thoughts, opinions and tastiness shared beyond this point are my own, as always**

If you remember...

I discovered this seasoning blend when I first started on my healthy living journey...

My first box of Char Crust!

And...

I ended up using it often as I prepared myself for this new lifestyle of mine (I had to keep things tasty!)...

In addition to...

Preparing myself for numerous fitness competitions. (Up until the point where I started watching my sodium count!)

If anything...

I never stopped savouring Char Crust products since! (And neither has my Mom, SuperFit, and friends since introducing it to them!)

No doubt about it...

It was like (or it was in fact)...

Love at first rub! (hehe)

**A little more about Char Crust**
  1. Char Crust is a family run business out of Chicago. Their story is quite special.
  2. Char Crust Dry-Rub Seasoning is easy to use (you just rub it on).
  3. It can be used on anything you can imagine! (From fish, to meat to veggies and so much more!)
  4. Every batch is made in small amounts, to ensure quality and flavour.
  5. There are 10 amazing flavours to choose from.
  6. It is certified Kosher.
  7. Is low in calories, fat and moderate in sodium content.

Quite honestly...

This blend of seasoning bursts with the most incredible of flavours that...

I can't go a week without it! (I use this rub once, twice, maybe three times a week. It's always been a part of our seasoning rotation in our home since our very first try!)

Just take a look at the things I've come to make over the past few years!

3 Ways To Keep Going While Resting...

My goodness...

Do I ever feel refreshed!

All thanks to the Super Powers of my Super Shirt ;)

After taking a FUll rest week to give my body (and mind) a break then...

Coincidentially...

Getting sick and having to take an additional, unintentional, five more days off....

I learned. A lot. (From the message the Universe was trying to convey to me!)

Rest. Rest. And then rest some more! Don't be afraid to stop. Honour the break. Your body. Your mind. And learn to relax. Breathe. A little more deeply.

If anything...

During the 10 days I did not exercise...

I learned to listen more attentively to my body (by allowing myself to slow down. Because I really needed to) and...

I learned to...

Be more intuitive with my overall sense of being. (Going within for a personal tune up without second guessing how I was truly feeling and needing to do....or not do in my case!)

Without a doubt...

I'm really happy I took the time needed not only to refresh myself but...

To get better too!

Honestly...

This whole resting phase turned out to be an opportunity for me to realize that...

Pushing myself to workout, without ever giving myself a break (especially while sick)...

Is in no way, shape or form a way show respect to my body given all that it does for me! (At.all.times.)

All in all (and more and more)...

Am I seeing that...

I must step back;
I must take a break; and (not limited to)...
I must honour myself and my body so that...

All together (both mentally and physically) can I FUnction and feel at my best...

Always!

Going back to the gym felt amazing after...
Giving overall being the rest it needed.

***

Now for those who may think you might go stir crazy because you're not on the move...

Here are a few ways to keep going, even if...

Your machine is turned off! (So to speak!)

1. Get to it: We've all had something we've been meaning to get to, start or get done, yet haven't taken the time to actually do it. Well, during your rest days, this is the perfect time to tackle them all (one at at time!)! As for me, I've been meaning to clear our my closet for the longest time, and finally I did it (almost!)! It took a few days (I took an hour or two at a time to do it), but I'm 90% there and I feel so much lighter because of it! My goal to de-clutter was a priority and I took my rest hours to get it done.

2. Find a hobby: Better yet, bring light back into those hobbies you love! Whether it be reading, writing, painting, music, what have you, focus on those things you've always loved doing and do them. Sometimes, we push aside some of those hobbies we love doing most because we feel pressed for time. While you rest though, you have the time, so bring the spark back. As for me, I read a lot. And, I got my home decorating juices flowing again. It felt good to focus myself on other passions too.

I've been loving my friend's book called:
Women In Sync.
A great read that I've been savouring.
(I was not asked to promote this inspiring book)

3. Get out: Catch up with friends and family, find events, concerts, plays to attend, sports games to watch, volunteer, or go to the movies (there's plenty to do and discover!)! There's nothing quite like a day or evening out doing something you haven't done in a while. It's good to get out of the house, with other intentions other than to workout. As for me, I volunteered at two fitness competitions and caught up with great friends.

Love my G.

Cheers to new beginnings on this Monday morning!

#RECIPEFRIDAY: Low Carb Sweet & Salty Zucchini Protein Bites!

Well...

I didn't think I'd go another 5 days without exercising but...

The Universe definitely intended that I rest a little while longer! (So, I chose to listen and rest some more!)

I totally thought I was doing way better on Wednesday  but...

My flu, now turned chest cold, has proven otherwise.

Did I mention how awesome my Teddy Bear has been while I've been sick?!

That said...

I've been staying true to my word in that...

I haven't been over-exerting my mental and physical self nor...

Have I been pushing myself to get to the gym either! (I totally would have before, not going to lie!)

If anything...

My priority has been to take care of my health first and foremost.

Then...

I will take things slow as I transition back into my routine. (So I don't flush this refresh down the toilet!)

Obviously...

It's what my body wants so I won't put up a fight(But let's face it, I'm so over being sick at this point!)

Oh my FUreakin' moly.
It seems like ages ago since my hair was blonde.

No doubt...

I've been asking a lot of my body lately so...

It's only fair that I take good care of the machine that keeps me going!

I mean...
I need to keep my balance.

Which brings me to my recipe...

Seeing that I haven't worked out at all this week...

I've been careFUl with how much energy I've been consuming. (Makes perfect sense to me! And surprisingly enough, my body feels a lot better with my revised 'diet' so to speak. Honestly, it's been another refresh of sorts and it happened in the most unintentional of ways!)

I've been loving my Salmon and Chicken Nori Wraps.
Recipe
And my...
Spicy, Cheesy Egg white Omelettes!

That said...

I came up with a new low carb recipe to satisfy my protein bites addiction! ;)

Honestly...

This new recipe takes absolutely no time to make (well, that's a lie but you know what I mean)...

And...

It's super tasty! (Well, I think it is since I've been making it on the regular!)

So friends...

Here's the recipe for my...

Listen To Your Body...

And don't put up a fight.

Let me explain...

After taking six FUll rest days from working out...

I'm back to resting! (Again!)

My Teddy Bear has been a great resting buddy.

Let me explain FUrther...

Saturday morning...

Both Nookie and I laced up for our first run of the week.

We were really excited about our date because...

It would give us a chance to update each other on how our rest week went while...

Being on the move.

My Nike+ GPS was pretty excited to get going again too.

As we talked about the things we accomplished while resting (I worked on de-cluttering my closet, and restoring my balance!)...

We also discussed how we could have rested a little while longer! (Neither of us thought this was possible!)

Don't get me wrong...

Exercising felt great but...

A part of us felt that perhaps we needed a little more time. (So, we decided to take things slow in our transitioning back into the groove of things.)

Slowing down to enjoy the Fall colours at my very feet.

Which brings me to Sunday morning...

I went to the gym for a chest, abs and cardio workout.

I didn't feel super strong, but I didn't feel weak either.

I felt good though.

In addition to feeling good...

It also felt good to push. To lift. To move. To feel a pump of sorts.

Without a doubt...

I simply felt at home, in my own exercising space. (Finally!)

That is...

Until I fell ill.

I've been sleeping a whole lot.

Now...

I realize the flu has been going around but...

In some way...

I feel as though this has been the Universe's way in telling me that perhaps I (am) was in need of more rest.

That...

It wasn't (isn't) quite time for me too get back into the groove of things, just yet!

As happy as I was to return to the gym
My body wasn't.

So now...

As I focus on getting better...

I won't push myself to workout as I know my body isn't ready right now. (Today is the first day that I'm almost feeling like myself again!))

If anything...

I'm going to listen to my body, and rest a little while longer. (Until I am FUlly recovered!)

Despite my thinking that I was ready to get back into my physical routine again...

Obviously, I wasn't.

That said...

I'm okay with that.

I will take this added time to put my energies towards getting better and...

I will embrace what the Universe is telling me because...

Unintentionally has my intent to get moving again teach me that there is...

No rush.

That...

I need to slow down. Rest up. And listen to my body because...

This isn't a race. (This is my health!)

Taking things slow with the Bear ;)

***

Speaking of not rushing...

Here are a few  delightFUl meals I've been enjoying over the past week.

While I've been intentionally eating them up...

I've also been...

Savouring each bite ever so slowly ;)

#RECIPEFRIDAY: Spicy Satay Protein Bowl and Doing My Body Good!

Hooray for Friday my friends!

Has it already been 6 days since I last exercised?

Let me tell you...

I'm feeling much more refreshed after my decision to give my body a rest and...

I think it goes without saying...

I'm super happy that I chose to go through with this challenge both Nookie and I talked about during one of our runs. (We kept each other updated throughout the week in terms of how things were going, what was tough, enlightening etc..)

Not only do I feel more balanced but...

I also feel good. Really good. Overall. (SuperFit  joked this morning in telling me that perhaps it's time I get back to being physical. It had nothing to do with the fact that I danced for him like a FU in our hallway...at 530 am hehe!)

**To be honest, I feel less zombie like <---we are watching The Walking Dead so the reference to zombies seems appropriate. I'm not walking around feeling tired nor grunting as I make my way up the stairs lol**

So I think it goes without saying...

This week has taught me to be...

Much more mindFUl about giving myself a break and...

Not to second guess my need to step back and breathe. A little more deeply. (And not fear the notion of resting either!)

I mean...

We all need to catch our breath and cut ourselves a little slack!

Truth be told though...

I will still need reminders (as this exercise is still so new to me) because...

I love being on the move and...

I know that once I get going again (tomorrow) I won't want to stop!

I think my sneakers missed me and I them. A little ;)

That said (and because of that)...

I am making a promise to myself be MORE conscious about listening to my body, more profoundly! (I mean, I need to take care of my overall wellness. That is, after all, my goal. To be healthy, in every way. Both in body and mind. I owe it my overall self, really.)

So as I get back into being physical again...

I will move forward with an understanding that I need time to rest, that I need more breathers in-between and that...

By doing so...

I will be doing my body (and mind) good!

***

Before I go...

Here's a quick little recipe that I've been enjoying making over here on the regular as of late!

It's a tasty bowl, it's simple and it doesn't require much!

I hope you enjoy it!
