For The Love Of....

Monday already!

After taking a few days off...

This Monday morning seems to have magically appeared right before my eyes!

I must tell you...

The time I took off really did me some good as I was able to relax, enjoy and savour every moment that presented itself! (Including my birthday!)

Which included some good ol' fashion (painFUl) foam rolling too ;)

FUrthemore...

It made feel even more blessed knowing that I was (am) surrounded by my family and friends!

As I prepare myself for another week ahead...

I want to share with you all of the things I came to love in the moments in-between life as of late!

I mean...

For the love of gratitude...

Taking the time to sit back, pause and reflect upon those things that make me whole has been a great way for me to...

Deepen my appreciation for them!

In other words...

It has offered me the opportunity to...

Open my eyes and see how much I really do have! (Be it the tangible or intangible. But more the intangible than anything!)

**

For the love of surprises...

I was totally shocked when SuperFit took me to dinner only to be greeted by my family for a surprise birthday party at Trattoria Caffé Italia down in Little Italy! I had absolutely no idea my Dad, The Masta, had planned this. SuperFit did a great job at making up some big story about meeting up with someone that was totally unbirthday related!

My little siblings :)
My FUmily!

For the love of running...

I ran 29km (18.125 miles) to represent every year that I have lived (I've never ran that distance before!). It was an incredible run filled with gravel roads, paved roads and trails. It was also filled with marvellous company, laughter and smiles!

My amazing running partner in crime!
29km right on the dot.

**The run was awesome. It was so gorgeous out. By kilometre 27, my legs were tired (at a point where I could really feel it. I mean, they were pretty heavy). I pushed through though to reach 29km! We enjoyed the walk and the stretching post-run. I made sure to foam roll and take an Epsom salt bath right after to soothe my legs.  My legs are a bit tight right now but I expected no less. I had a great birthday run and I will definitely remember it! I'm so grateFUl to have had Nookie by my side. I must admit, her stories and motivation during the last two km helped me out a whole lot!**

For the love of FUrry pets...

I had loads of FUn hanging out with my Teddy Bear! He often reminds me to step away from it all and just be...with him! hehe (Often times, when I sit down to write, he's always the first to 'interrupt' me, Interrupt me to give me a hug. No doubt, I welcome his loving interruptions!)

Slowing down to enjoy the moment :)
Relaxing.
I love my puppy lol

For the love of life...

I'm learning more and more to savour those moments in-between! (In-between events, goals, destinations, what have you!) Why rush through life when you can slow things right down? Right down to the point where you can enjoy what life has to offer you in lessons, in the waiting and in the moment.

For the love of love...

I love my SuperFit! Not a day goes by do I not love this man more and more. Need I say more?

I saved him from not one but two flat tires!
Like our friend Lori said...
"He probably willed the flat so that he could see you"
hehe I liked that :)

A night out to enjoy and savour.

Have a marvellous day my friends!

#RECIPEFRIDAY: Savoury Oatmeal Protein Scramble!

First and foremost...

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes!

You all know how to make a girl feel FUreakin' special :)

My day was filled smiles, laughter, love (and good food too) and for that...

I am grateFUl!

From start.
To finish!

***

Sometimes...

When we find ourselves scrambling to get things done...

We can also find ourselves scrambling up some the most creative of things in the most unintentional of ways.

Take for instance...

Throwing ideas, outfits and salads together.

One big bowl of veggies and fruits scrambled together to make one tasty meal.

Or (and definitely not limited to)...

Playlists, collages and ingredients!

A new playlist I scrambled together in a moments time.

That being said...

Scrambling in and of itself isn't something we should be striving for as...

We can be much more creative and efficient should we invest ourselves and our time in the things we are doing!

I won't deny though...

There are times in our lives when we will feel rushed to scramble things together but...

As I am reminded to take things slow...

I realize that it is in my hands to turn these scrambling feelings into opportunities!

Opportunities to...

Re-focus and pace myself in all that I am doing! (So that I can savour each and every moment that passes me by!)

No matter how busy life may be or seem...

We have the power to control how fast we go!

If we are always rushing from one task, goal or event to the next then...

We are putting ourselves at risk of missing out on all of the lessons to be learned in-between! (The lessons that will contribute to our growth as individuals!)

The In-Between by Jeff Goins

Having said that...

I am learning more and more to take things slow as the days go by...

Especially when life feels like it is scrambling for time!

So...

To keep with the scrambling theme...

Please enjoy a new recipe I scrambled together in the slowest and most savoury of ways in this edition of #RECIPEFRIDAY!

Birthday Intentions....

It's my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

Mini me!

Today...

I am 29 years young and I feel great.

Not only because I got to sleep in an extra hour and a half (so unusual for me!)...

But because I am alive, well, happy and healthy...

Hi!

And because...

I'm surrounded by love, family and friends! (That includes you too!)

As I mentioned in yesterday's post...

I unintentionally did not plan a birthday party for myself...

My mama had me covered with birthday FUn and goodies!

Although...

I did plan on taking this present day off.

Off to run, take things slow, relax and do whatever it is my little 29 year old heart desires! (Which includes going to the mud oven to paint myself a new mug!)

And spend the whole evening with this guy :)

To add to this thought...

I do have birthday intentions. (Of course I do, it's my birthday!)

Such as...

Intentions to continue (working) at living a life that fills me, completely. (Which will involve discovering more of those very things that will, in fact, fill me up and/or require refilling.)

Even if I don't have any big plans and goals set in place...

My intentions to be true to myself in all that I do will keep me focused and grounded whether I'm pursuing something or not.

This intention will also...

Keep me looking up at the road ahead of me no matter what direction I may find myself going in!

Despite not knowing where life will take me (which is a good thing because where's the FUn in that!)...

My intentions to keep eyes wide open will only open me up to a world of possibilities for me to see and experience...in and around me.

In addition to that...

This intention will contribute to my growth as an individual! (Through good times, FUn times, hard times and every other time there is to be had!)

I will keep my wheels turning :)

FUrthermore...

My intentions to follow my passions and live passionately will only bring me closer to those things I am seeking! (Or that are seeking me already!)

So...

As I continue to live out this day (and every day after) intentionally (and unintentionally)....

I thought I would share with you a little glimpse into what I intend on FUelling myself with on my birthday!

It is What I Ate Wednesday after all!

Thanks Jenn for the tasty link up!
Who said FUel was just food related ;)
Definitely going out for a birthday run and..
Playing with my Teddy Bear.
Oatmeal Protein Zucchini Bites for breakfast!
(I will add peanut butter to these little delights)
Coffee and a Quest bar.
Sushi for dinner.
Honestly...
I could eat sushi every day.
Sushi always wins.
Birthday Menchies.
I may actually add a topping. Maybe. lol

Oh and to add to the menu...

I booked myself a loooooooooooong massage for tomorrow! (A little present to myself and my LEGS! lol)

Have a great day my friends!

Questions FU You...

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
What are your intentions today?

Unintentionally...

Did life surprise me when I least expected it.

The unexpected 25km/h winds during my run made for...
Interesting times.

In a matter of days...

I was able to experience and live life in the most unintentional of ways.

It was refreshing. It felt good. I learned a lot from it.

As I went into the weekend with the only intention to take things slow with my family...

All of the moments that passed me by and that I was able to soak up were unintended for.

Soaking up our time together as we continue our growth as sisters and...
As individuals.
Growing together...
365 days a year.

As we often plan out our days to the very last hour...

We don't often leave room for those seconds we have in-between to see and learn from the unintentional lessons that are right in front of us!

The In-Between by Jeff Goins.
An intentional buy for unintentional lessons to be learned.
I've been welcoming these lessons with open arms.

And...

As we find ourselves rushing to get from one point to the next...

We don't make the time to slow down and appreciate what is happening in those very instances that fall in-between our 'destined travels'. (One of the lessons I have come to learn in Jeff's book.)

Of course...

We all have our own responsibilities and commitments to attend to but...

We also have a life to learn from as well.

And that is what I was able to learn this weekend. Unintentionally.

As I'm the type of person who loves having a plan (I plan for a living! lol)...

These past couple of months...

I've been going with the flow of life more and more as the days go by. Not really having any specific goals or plans other than doing what feels right.

Running has felt so right lately.

That being said...

With the busy Fall season that came into play faster than I'd hoped for...

The unexpected busyness I came to live left me feeling out of sorts. (Not going to lie.)

It was to the point where I wasn't taking the time to soak in everything that was happening in and around me. (But rather, wished time to fly by even faster in order to move on to the next thing on my schedule!)

I was and felt rushed. I wasn't learning any lessons. I was shoeing them away.

That is why I've been making a point to pace myself and intentionally making the effort to...

Slow down! (Again, this challenge has been an eye opener for me. And it continues to be!)

But today...

My intention is not to talk about what I intentionally did. (Or, am doing)

My intention is to share with you those unintentional moments I ended up living which...

As a result...

Ended up being lessons in disguise. (Or simply lessons undisguised just waiting to be seen with eyes wide open.)

So as I begin this week with the openness to allow the unintentional make its way into my life...

I want to let you in on those moments I unintentionally experienced over the past few days.

You can learn a lot from a cat.
Slow, relaxed and living in the now.
No worries and just going with the flow.
(Snowie is the coolest cat ever)

**

Unintentionally does life remind us that the unexpected cannot always be expected...

We are never too young for surprises.
My family surprised me with birthday balloons.
I was totally not expecting it!

Unintentionally does life teach us that we do not have to plan out our every move or moment...

For the first time in a long time...
I have not planned a birthday party for myself but yet...
My mama did :)
She got my most favourite cake ever.
Carrot Cake :)
My birthday is tomorrow...
I plan to enjoy the day off!

Unintentionally does life teach us to embrace change...

From a dry run to a wet run.
Soaking up the coolness of the rain to the very last drop ;)

Unintentionally does life show us to savour each and every moment no matter the spills that may occur.

Post-run foot bath my Mom prepared for me.
I unintentionally flipped it over and...
The lavender water spilled all over the floor.
We laughed long and savoured the moment.

Unintentionally does life remind us that it's okay to take a break...

And to have a piece of chocolate ;)
Unintentionally did end up not going to the gym for a week.
It did me good because I hadn't taken a FUll blown rest week from lifting in a LONG while!
I was able to recharge without intending to.

Unintentionally does life allow us to get lost and find our way forward again...

We got lost for a good 30 minutes until we found our way back again.
We thought it was FUnny.
Made for a memorable time (literally!)

And (but certainly not least)...

Unintentionally can life blossom whether we intend for the bloom or not.

Do not see the road ahead as a long one but yet...
One that is filled with lessons to be learned and memories to be made.
Don't rush your journey.
Enjoy the ride.

Life and lessons unintended for...

It's an amazing feeling really.

Question FU you...

What has life unintentionally taught you?
