Trust Your Gut...

So...

I'm moving on.

I'm moving on and...

I'm going to continue exploring more of the journey that this life in health and fitness (and overall) has in store for me.

Open your eyes and see the world in front of you ;)

As I've been reflecting on my goals and the things I want to do over the past little while...

I've come to realize that right now, in this moment in time...

I've got to let go and move on to other things that this fruitFUl journey has to offer me!

No...
Not oversized Rike Krispies Treats lol

When it comes to competing in fitness competitions...

I've decided that I need a break! (Yep!)

I can't tell you how long this break will be (it could be months, a year or two, who knows!) but...

What I can tell you is that...

I'm ready to change my competitive mindset and...

Focus more on doing what I love! (Without a date being attached to it!)

I love lifting...
It empowers me and brings out my strength in so many ways!
IDFA 2013

After competing in 9 competitions over a span of about 2 years (holy FUreakin moly)...

I feel that now is the time for me to put my heels back in their box!

We've had some FUreakin' great times together :)

As much as I love competing and...

As much as I love each and every experience these competitions have taught me about my ever growing self (literally too I guess lol)...

Sometimes...

You just have to listen to our gut and do what feels right! (As hard as that may be, your gut is telling you something for a reason!)

Reflecting on what feels right one feeling and thought at a time.

If I can tell you one thing though...

I know the temptation to compete will always remain inside me! (I enjoy and love every part of it (the tough days included) but, my goal right now is to re-learn what it's like not to have to get ready for one! Know what I mean?)

Friendship.
Love.
Happiness.
Family.
All of these things will remain whether or not I compete.
I will simply experience and see these things from a different angle ;)

As I have developed a passion for my health and my overall well-being over the past 3 1/2 years...

I will continue doing what I love most!

I mean...

I love working out, eating well and savouring each and every moment this life has to offer so...

There is no stopping me from doing what I am most passionate about! (I didn't start this lifestyle to compete, I started this lifestyle to be healthy, treat my body and mind right and, feel good overall!)

FUrthermore...

As much as being ultra lean and seeing my abs is awesome...

That look is not what defines me as an individual! (I am more than that, remember?)

Could it be the facial expressions I make though ;)
hehe

That being said...

My focus will not be on remaining at my leanest (ummm, no. I know my body and it's not where it is most happy)...

But instead...

It will simply be on being healthy and loving myself both inside and out for all that I am! (My degree of leanness does not define my commitment to health, fitness and how well I take care of myself!)

Through my active lifestyle and (not limited to) my clean and balanced eats...

I will continue to live my life the way I want and...

I will continue to enjoy the lifestyle that I've come to know and love!

Loving the amazing bike ride I had last night!

With that in mind...

Please enjoy some of the things I've come to eat over the past week in this edition of...

What I Ate Wednesday!

I've been rising and shining with Rise Kombucha every day since being back from vacation.
I'm having a little bit every day, twice a day.
It's recommended from what I've read.
So far so energizing ;)
Blueberry Oatmeal Protein Bites :)
I've been loving me my Quest Bars!
My FUel for the way back home after I reached the top :)
A handFUl of Jelly Bellies from my Iron Sista Moe!
I love plum and juicy pear!
Spring Vermicelli Rolls from one of our fave weekend restaurants!
Greek Yogurt with berries and ground flax seeds.
I sweetened this with Lemon and Vanilla NuNaturals.
Remember all the sweet stuff I got from them?!
A can of refreshing Zevia Cola :)
I still have a few left from the stash they sent me!
Shirataki Noodle bowl with spicy jerk chicken and veggies.
My fave ever...
SUSHI!
Dijon Mustard Grain Salmon with Bell Peppers.
Gluten-free spaghetti with Chicken and Vegetables (for SuperFit)
My sister found these at the airport in Orlando.
The Chuao Firecracker chocolate is out of this world!
Once you pop one into your mouth...
The things that happen is unreal (and tasty)! lol
Thanks Jenn for this great link up!

Have a tasty day friends!

Who knows...
I may move towards another competition down the line but for now...
I'm letting go and moving on without forgetting what I've learned :)

Questions FU You...

Do you listen to your gut?
What are you most passionate about?

Trust your gut? I'm trying but I seem to be having a hard time figuring out what it's telling me. Does that make any sense? Just in a mood. Ugh!

  12. And it's not like you're saying goodbye to the comps forever! I think sometimes taking a break from really hard/intense training and competing is good. The eb and flow of an athlete.

  24. good for you! i've always thought it was intense the kind of plan you have to follow in all these competitions and wondered, "is she human?! does she ever get sick of it?!" i'm sure you will have tons of fun on this break and whenever the competition bug bites you again you'll be ready to dive back in then.

  28. I commend you for listening to your gut and having the courage to follow through with what you feel is right to do now. Trusting the gut is so important, yet easy to be afraid of doing (I'm guilty of that but learning it's okay to rest or to take a break when it feels necessary to do so).

  34. It is so important to listen to your gut. You have done some amazing thing is the past few years, and I know you have many more things ahead..whatever they may be. I look forward to following your journey.

  35. Aww. I love this. So so SO much! I'm moving on from something different (a man). I've always felt obligated to go to running clubs and such even when I didn't have to run. We were trying the whole friends thing but after his behavior Saturday I realize that he is no longer serving me so it was time to let go. I thought long and hard and decided to take a step back from the running clubs and focus on just my own half marathon training and a few side projects I had put off.

It's amazing what room we have in our lives when we let go of one thing and venture to another <3

  36. Good for you!!! You were SO disciplined for so long... I don't know how you did it! I'm thinking after this November I'll take a year or two to build and do other things too.

P.S. Try the Chuao breadcrumb flavor. Mind. Blown.

    ReplyDelete
  37. You, my dear, are amazing! Congratulations on making this decision. I haven't personally done a fitness competition before but I know what it's like to discipline yourself and be so laser focused on a goal that you end up neglecting other areas of life that need attention. Enjoy your break, no matter how long it is. Oh and Quest bars FTW!!!
