SuperFit: Flexing The Laws of Nature!

**Disclaimer: SuperFit was provided with a free pair of Saucony Virrata's for review purposes as part of the FitFluential Ambassador program I am a part of. All thoughts and opinions shared in this review are honest.**

Yes, you read right.

SuperFit has been flexing...

More specifically...

Flexing the laws of nature in his new Saucony Virrata's!

When SuperFit received his very first pair of Zero Drop Shoes to test out...

There was no hiding his excitement about trying out a pair of minimalist shoes!

The face of excitement ;)

As a man with an array of running shoes and as an avid connoisseur of his own two feet (he's very in tune with his body)...

Trust me...
He is ;)

Being able to get a feel for a more natural, barefoot stride was something that peeked his interest! (As he's typically 'classified' as a 'neutral' kind of guy! I'd beg to differ but this isn't about me lol)

He's been used to running in his Nike's so,  introducing a switch
to what his feet have been wearing was worth a try.

Also...

Being able to test out a shoe not only to run in but to cross train in as well...

This, in part...

Would really give him a chance to flex the laws of nature as it would allow him to...

Try out the shoes in his most natural of environments! (Although they are not meant for cross training, versatility was worth a try! You never know what conditions you may come across! ;) )

At the gym.

Before we get into SuperFit's thoughts on the shoe...

Here are a few things you should know about the Saucony Virrata's:

The Virrata is our lightest and most flexible training shoe and allows your foot to move naturally. We removed everything that isn’t helping your run improve. What remains is a feather-light, ultra flexible shoe with advanced cushioning that promotes a powerful stride and allows your foot to move the way it was meant to. Built on a 0mm offset, this shoe lets your feet do the work while providing plenty of protection from the road. The breathable mesh upper makes the shoe incredible lightweight and quick-drying to run in wet weather conditions. Weight: 6.5oz.

As transition time is very much encouraged when moving into a pair of minimalist shoes...

SuperFit gave his feet a little while to get used to the Virrata's!

As it's now been a few weeks since he's been wearing them...

Immediately, the first thing he had to say when I asked him about them was...

I FUrther asked him to give me more info about his thoughts and...

This is what he had the share!

Pros:

  1. He loved the lightness and flexibility of the shoe. Felt like no other pair he's ever worn before.
  2. The bright colours were a definite plus.
  3. Running in the Virrata's felt light, comfortable and secure.
  4. The shoes felt just right on his feet! (He didn't think they would! He actually feared they would hurt his feet/ankle more than anything.)
  5. The support surpassed the expectations he had when it came to running. He was pleasantly surprised.
Con:

  1. The Virrata's lacked the support required for walking or standing for long periods of time (his foot pronated which he thought was interesting.)

Knowing that the Saucony Virrata's are not meant for cross training, SuperFit would most likely wear the Virrata's in the gym for shorter workouts.

All in all...

SuperFit looks forward to putting the Virrata's towards more testing!

He was absolutely surprised and how well the shoes FIT despite his fear that they would lack support when running! (He was shocked during his first test run!)

They are definitely meant to be a running shoe (and not meant for cross training, at least for SuperFit) and...

He will continue to wear them as such! (Slowly but surely!)

Questions FU You...

Have you ever tried a minimalist shoe? The Virrata's by chance?
Would you like to? (I would! lol)

  14. I don't know if I could do a minimalist shoe. My physio has said to me multiple times he gets so much business from people wearing those kinds of shoes. In saying that its usually from trying to do too much distance in them too soon.

    1. Transitioning they say is key when switching to a minimalist shoe. Taking it easy...and starting slow. Makes complete sense to me! :)

  17. I run in Saucony Kinvara's right now which are a minimalist shoe and I love them. I have had 6 pairs already and will by buying #7 on may 1st when the 4th version of the shoe is released. They originally took time to get used to, but once I did, I was in love. I am looking to try the Virratas as well, which are very similar to the Kinvaras.
