Growing Slowly is Better Than Standing Still!

Hi everyone...

I hope this Thursday morning finds you well! (My weekend has officially started! YabadabaFUuuuu!)

Cheers to an extra long weekend ahead!

To be honest...

I wasn't planning on posting today but...

I came across a quote in one of my books the other night that's...

Been making me think ever since! (So, I want to touch on it a little bit as I believe it's an important one!))

But just before I get into that...

In keeping with Monday's post on affirming yourself...

There's no doubt in my mind that...

What I think, believe and tell myself about the things I do and work towards has the potential to affect...

The outcome of my experience, what I will learn from it and essentially...

How I will grow as a person in my journey through life!

That's why...

I must positively affirm myself and my goals every.single.day. so that I can remind myself of...

  1. Who I am (and stand for as a person - it's easy to get lost in the shuffle of things when we focus so much on getting ahead);
  2. What I'm doing; and (not limited to)...
  3. How I plan to achieve what I've set out to accomplish! (Both mentally and physically)

With that in mind...

Here are my daily affirmations for today:

Onto the quote...

Before bed...

I most often read a number of quotes and sayings which sometimes...

Leave an everlasting impression on me! (They make this FU reflect and ponder much!)

So the other night...

I came across this one:

Gasp.

This is what I've been alluding to for so long in my journey to the competition stage! (And through life!)

Those words were perfect for this FU!

Think about it.

We are always in such a rush to achieve and see results that more often than not...

We forget that with every step taken...

We grow.

No matter how slowly things may feel or be progressing...

We are moving forward (and growing) with every effort made towards our goals and in life!

Now, I realize that sometimes...

We get frustrated or impatient with ourselves and with your bodies but....

We have to remember that...

Things take time and...

We just have to be patient! (We have no choice but to be!)

Pay attention.

Pay attention to those things you have the opportunity to learn from as you grow and evolve through life!

I mean...

Without acknowledging what you are doing and how you are progressing...

You are missing out on some of the most important lessons in all that you are doing!

Having said all that...

My hope is that we can all take a step back and realize...

No matter how slowly things may feel and move...

Know that it's better to grow slowly than to be standing still!

Questions FU You....

Have you affirmed yourself today? Share with me one of your daily affirmations.
Are you in a rush to achieve or do you practice patience? (Or, at least try to?)

  3. I could always be more patient with myself and others even! It is something I work on. One of my fav affirmations is "I am enough" :)

  5. I love this message. Such true words and you are so right--we are so impatient (I certainly am!). A little recognition and appreciation of slow growth can go a long way.

  6. I have found quotes to be my "scripture". I reference them quite often and keep an ongoing journal of ones that I collect. Thank you for adding to my list =)

  7. Wonderful messages. So true - we are often so impatient for results at the detriment of our own health - ie. crash/unhealthy diets.

Great words to take us in to the weekend. Today is my Friday, too.

  10. LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to be in a big ole hurry - always!! Things have changed with time. One thing I did learn early though was the exercise part that it does take time & patience.. :) I did not always act that way but I knew it!

Just love these quotes & affirmations & you!

I affirmed myself in the gym - I am strong for an older broad! :) PLUS keep on trying - it never hurts to try! :)

  11. I love that quote and that you do affirmations. I am so wrapped up in fast change and I have the worst short term memory so I need to remember that's it's all about small changes even if the gains are slow.

  13. I am one of the most impatient people you'll ever meet. I want everything and results NOW. Patience is something I am constantly having to remind myself about and work on daily! I haven't done affirmations in a while - mostly due to me losing perspective lately since I've been in such a RUSH for everything. eek! Thank you for the reminder.

  15. Love that quote! I've only just discovered your blog but I love it.

It is so true about needing to be patient. It is sometimes so hard when you just want everything now but things are sometimes so much better when you've had to wait or be patient before you get them.

  17. Right now my mantra is "I am stronger than a bag of chips." LOL! I will not let those pesky chips lure me into eating them.

And yes, we are always moving forward. Even when we make a mistake. We learn, and grow, and make prigresd.

  18. I love those quotes Kierston. It's so true about growing slowly vs. standing still. Standing still seems like it's the goal - that you've arrived and achieved whatever goal but really, there's always more to learn and ways to grow. Thank you for these!

  19. So true--I get so impatient, and if things don't happen the moment I expect them too, I get easily frustrated, but the best things are worth waiting for, and even the slowest progress is still important!

  20. Yes, yes! Great thoughts, Kierston. You are so thoughtful, I always enjoy your reflective posts. It's hard to be patient with the slow growing things in life, but it's so necessary.

  21. Love love love this post. Love the quote about fearing standing still. I am not a patient person, this is something I was not blessed with. I try and try to be patient but it is hard for me. I have to remind myself more often than not that things take time. My fiance calls me on it a lot, reminding me to at least TRY and be patient.
