Fitness Competition Prep: On The Road...

Good morning everyone and...

Happy What I Ate Wednesday to you!

I'm really excited about it...
Honestly lol

As some of you may know...

I'm currently on the road!

Of course...

Being away has meant that...

I've had to come prepared because I'm getting ready to compete at the OPA Ontario Championships! (There were a few necessities I had to bring with me!)

Aside from having a few special meal orders in place during my time away...

I also brought some food with me!

In following my own tips on staying on track while on the road...

I made sure to get myself a fridge...

And...

A microwave to keep things in check!

So with all of that being said and...

In keeping with Wednesday tradition...

Here's a glimpse into a few things I've been eating while away from home!

K well I had this before leaving on Monday! lol
Recipe for my no carb protein bites can be found here.
Oven baked Chicken.
Tandoori Spice Chicken Salad
(I made this for the drive to MTL)
I ordered a salad to my room last night.
To make a long story short...
The lettuce, no dressing and extra veggies I ordered came with...
dressing and bread.
Once I got what I ordered...
I added my Chicken.
(Actually, I picked off my Chicken after I noticed there was dressing...then, once I got the right salad...
I put my Chicken back on lol)
I haven't made this in forevs but..
I was totally in the mood!
And...
I'm happy I did!
Am I ever!

In case you missed my recipe I posted two years ago (lol) here it is again!

Chocolate Protein Mug Cake

by *CaNdY FiT*
Prep Time: 1 minute
Cook Time: 1 - 1 1/2 minutes
Ingredients (1 Mug Cake)

  • 1 scoop Chocolate Protein Powder (I use Revolution Nutrition High Whey)
  • 1 T Burnbrae Farms Egg Whites
  • 1/4 cup Water (maybe a little less)
  • 1 T Ground Flax Seeds
  • 1 T Cocoa Powder (optional)
  • A few Berries (optional)
optional toppings

Instructions
  1. In a mug, combine all of the ingredients
  2. Mix together
  3. Place in microwave for about 1 - 1 1/2 minutes (be sure to keep a close eye on it as it may overflow)
  4. Remove from microwave and top with your favourite topping (if you so choose!)
   note:

The longer you leave it in the microwave the less moist it becomes. Test and taste to your own liking :)

~Training~

No doubt...

Not only have I been keeping to my pre-competition diet but also...

My workouts too! (The best surprise ever was seeing that I needed not my elastic bands that I brought with me)

Pure bliss.
I've been getting awesome training sessions in!
I'm doing legs tonight :)

Okeedokee...

I've got to get going so...

Remember (in keeping with Monday's post)...

I wish you all a happy day ahead!

  5. I love that you have figured out how to stay healthy AND stay on track with comp prep while on the road. Not always easy. But I think once you have down some basics, it's so much easier. I always pack up my own protein powder, oatmeal, and nutbutter to use in the room. I try to always have a microwave and/or refrigerator. But the coffee machine works great for hot water for oats at least. Lookin' good my dear!!

    1. The first time I ever went away while in my new lifestyle..I was nervous. I had no idea how I would keep on track. Writing things out and making a plan helped plenty! Now, three years later, I worry not :)

  6. Way to go chickie for staying on track with your diet!!! I remember before my hubby did a show we went to Sesame Place. He packed a giant cooler and was prepped for every meal. He even brought it to restaurants! You're going to rock it!!!

  7. Love this. I do think about staying active when I travel but less about being prepared to eat healthy. We usually pack food and stuff for the kids (since they have a gazillion allergies) but I always forget about myself!! Great job and love your progress.

  11. Great plan of attack for staying on top of it all while on the road. I always stay in a condo when on vacation, chief reason being that I love being able to cook while there and stay on track. Enjoy your week in Montreal (great city!)

That cake looks good - it's almost exactly like mine, but I use applesauce for a little sweet creaminess. :)
