It Starts With YOU!

Good morning everyone and...

Happy Wednesday to ya!

I'm looking forward to the day where I don't have to wear a winter coat!

I hope this morning finds you well and that you're feeling great! (I must admit, Monday was a rough day for me! My stomach was upside down and remained a bit off until late yesterday afternoon! Not really sure what was up but it's gone now! FUew!)

In keeping with tradition...

Today I get to share with you a glimpse into some of my daily eats thanks to Jenn over at Peas and Crayons!

So, without any proper introduction...

Here they are!

I gotta say...

Now that the holiday season is over and...

All the parties and get-togethers have slowed down come to a complete halt...

It feels really great being back to my regular programming! (On the routine front of things!)

Popcorn not always included ;)

I mean....

I did maintain my 'diet' and training routine throughout the holidays but...

There was definitely more eating involved! (I enjoyed and I moderated...although sometimes,  I will admit, I enjoyed a little more! Yep!)

Having said that...

Healthy living, to me, isn't about restrictions, it's about...

Finding the right balance for you! (The only way you're going to make a lifestyle in health and fitness work is if you find a happy medium that works for you!)

Of course...

Depending on what your goals are and what you're working towards...

Being healthy and introducing healthy practices into your lifestyle will require some changes! (You can't always have your *CaNdY* and eat it too lol! But look it, these changes will only benefit you and your health in the long run!)

I mean...

I had make a lot of changes if I was going to make this lifestyle an on-going thing! (I lived a very sedentary way of life and so doing anything for the good of me was a change!)

My *CaNdY*  habits had to change.

Changing my lifestyle around didn't come naturally to me (nope!) and...

It did require practice! (I believe this lifestyle will always be something I practice because every day is a new day to apply the practices we adopt as we go along in our journey!)

Like anyone else wanting to be healthy (or introduce any type of change into their lives)....

I had to learn!

I had to learn my body...

I had to learn about the food I FUelled with and...

I had to learn about myself and what it would take for me to sustain the changes and the lifestyle I wanted to lead!

All that being said....

I'm still learning as I go along and I believe...

This learning cycle will never end! (We are ever-changing beings therefore, there is always more to learn!)

After re-reading a few posts from when I first started on my journey...

I've come to see the changes I've instilled and how far I've come!

To be honest...

Never once do I look back and wish I could go back to my sedentary life! (I only look back to reflect on where I started and where I am now!)

My decision to take care of myself is the best thing I could have done for myself and I'm proud to say...

I'm still going at it!

At the end of the day, I've learned that....

Wanting to lead a healthy lifestyle (or going after anything it is you want in life) starts with YOU and your commitment to YOUrself!

So my advice to you is...

Take charge and make it happen!

Question FU You....

What has driven you to start taking charge in your life?

  1. Such a great post Kierston; I love the reminder that it's ok to treat yourself. I indulged a bit over the holidays but that doesn't mean that I gave up on my clean eating. It just means that now I have 0 excuses to not eat clean. It's all about your focus, attitude and drive. Happy Wednesday!

  2. Couldn't agree more! There is not a lifestyle change or exercise program that works even the smallest of miracles if you're not mentally invested! I have a bunch of bananas in the freezer that I need to use up and I have all of these ingredients! I know what I'm doing this afternoon :) Thanks love!

  7. I love that you indulged a bit over the holidays. People make such a big deal out of a couple of weeks, but it's what you do the rest of the year that makes the BIG difference. Love following your journey. Isn't it fun with eating clean becomes a habit and a craving? :)

  8. You have such an inspiring story! I think what drives me is setting big goals and going after them. Even something like setting a new pr in a race gives me confidence to go after dreams in my personal/family life as well.

  13. Love this post Kierston and your story. We are always learning, aren't we? How to incorporate healthy habits, what's working and what's not working, how to balance (because that balance always shifts). I think that recognizing that I deserved to be healthy and happy helped me start to charge of my life - that if I didn't advocate for it, no one was going to do it for me.

  14. Nice post K! I agree life is about learning! I am 44 and still learning about myself everyday... thank goodness! My children have driven me to take charge, if I don't they won't.

  18. You are preaching to the choir on it is all about you! :) Been at this for so many years & it was all about learning my body & me & what is right for me. Been preaching it too for years. I hope people will listen to us instead of looking for all the other quick fixes OR what works for someone else but not right for them... :)
