Resting...

Since the OPA Ottawa Championships...

I've been resting.

And by resting I mean...

Other than sleeping...

I've not entered the gym once (other than to say hello) nor have I put on my sneakers for any type of physical activity! (Nope!)

For the past 5 days...

I've given my body a 100% break from everything...

And quite honestly...

I think my whole being is happy with the rest its been given especially...

After my 3 weeks of competing in Fitness Competitions! (Its tired now lol)

Although I won't deny that...

My orders from Coach SuperFit to take the FUll week off did sound crazy at first (I mean, I love exercising so giving myself that much rest time sounded insane) but...

I know I totally needed it! (And if not me then my body and my brain!)

Coffee can only so much in keeping my motor going ;)

So far...

I know this break has done me a lot of good since I've been able to relax and ease myself into a different mindset! (From competition mode to, well, non-competition mode! lol)

You get the idea :)

Plus...

It's also given me the opportunity to refocus myself and think about what I plan for next which is...

For the time being...

Recharge my batteries and enjoy the present moment for all it has to offer!

Right now...

I'm happy (beyond happy!) and I see no rush to jump into or commit to anything too quickly.

My plan is to simply be (yes, just be) and you know what...

I like that plan....

I like that plan...a lot!

#FUFACE and all :)

Questions FU You...

1. How many rest days do you take a week?
2.Once you've reached your goal, ran your race, competed in your competition (what have you), do you feel the need to plan your next big thing or do you take some time to breathe?

  2. Girl you deserve this rest period. I'm terrible at taking more than a day off in a row! It was super tempting after my taper week and then right after my half.

  3. LOVE this - just to be .. well whatever & rest You had a lot of months of hard core training & dieting so this was definitely needed!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!

I take 2 days off per week but since I am so intense, I do think I should take a few days off every few months & I don't... My sis hits here December & I plan to take some days off & just less intense workouts. I do miss the weights but a less rigorous workout week will do me good!

Once I finished my competitions I never ever thought about the next big thing. All I thought about was feeling accomplished but glad it is done! ;)

  9. Yes! You totally need/deserve that rest--your body gave you all sorts of awards, now it's time to reward it ;D With more of that coffee--that is one gorgeous mug of Joe! And I try to take two rest days a week. It used to be a mental fight to give my body that rest, but now I enjoy every minute of it!

  10. I think it's so smart to take a break after a big race or competition. You are doing absolutely the right thing. We all come back physically and mentally recharged after a break. Good job!

  12. Glad you're resting!! You deserve it x 100!! I normally take 1-2 rest days a week depending on my schedule- but I don't work near as hard as you girl!!!

  13. Wow, it's so inspiring to see you taking all those rest days. You are just so gorgeous and it has been hard for me to take rest days the last couple of years. I honestly do not often take a TRUE rest day but I do take at least one day a week where I just do some yoga. Still I'm working on being OK and resting and healing my body. It's hard! Like you said it sounded crazy at first. But man you'll attack that gym when you get back to it! And congrats on your fitness comp win - so incredible.

    1. Thanks Cait!

In the beginning I never wanted to rest. I just wanted to GO, GO, GO!

Taking this week off has been amazing. My body is recharging and I can't wait to hit the gym fully charged :)

  15. I'm glad to see you are taking the week off. 3 competitions back to back has to be exhausting. I just competed in my first figure competition and it does make me feel like I need another "thing" to work towards. I'm working on trying to just be healthy and figure out my "next big thing" later.

    1. After my first competition I felt like I needed to find another goal...fast! This time around, I just want to take my time and ease into my next goal. I want to enjoy the moment(s) and just live and be healthy. Simple as that. I think that's a pretty good plan if you ask me :)

  16. Kierston, it sounds like that break has been exactly what you needed! Congrats on such a tough competition cycle, and enjoy a well-earned rest.

I take a rest day each week, but after a huge event, I try to listen to my body and not push it.
