Body Maintenance!

I can't believe it's already been...

10 days since my competition season has ended!

SAF

I mean...

Where has time gone?!

Hmmm....I thought you'd never ask ;)

Well...

It's definitely been spent in the company of good friends...

Me, Nikki and Nookie!

Loved ones...

 And...

Great food!

Homemade dinner at my Mama's!
I was craving Indian cuisine so she made me...
Tandoori Chicken, a Chickpea Curry and Basmati Rice!
Friday night Basil Thai Chicken!
Sushi.
Dinner at the Masta's!
Rice, Oven-baked Salmon and a Shrimp Stir-fry!

And, let me just say that...

In the week I had to rest and relax (on all fronts)...

I made sure to enjoy my time off to the FUllest (despite my being sick and all!) which...

Did include some added sweetness too!

I asked my Mom to make me Rice Krispie Squares.
She surprised me with a Lemon CuPcAke too :)
And yes...
I ate 'em both and enjoyed every single bite!
Lindt Sea Salt Dark Chocolate is my fave!
As is an Asian Pear and Allégro Cheese!
Bonfire Marshmallow eating at Nikki's!

That being said...

I didn't go wild or crazy nor did I stuff myself silly! (Nope! I learned my lesson!)

This time around, I remained mindFUl while...

I enjoyed a few goodies alongside my regular eats which...

I get to share with you today through...

Thanks to Jenn over at Peas and Crayons!

But before I do so...

I just want to mention that since I'm now...

Back to my regular training routine...

We (as in Coach SuperFit and I) have brought my body back into maintenance gear which...

Involves me eating a well-rounded diet FIT to me, my body and my metabolism! (I'm a person who likes structure when it comes to feeding 'the machine' so, I wanted to be sure I had a plan in place post-competition so that I wouldn't be caught in a 'what do I do now?!!!' situation which, no doubt can happen after following such a regimented and strict diet for so long!)

Having said that...

This inevitably means my body will change (I can't maintain my competition physique because it was only meant for that day!) and...

My body will stabilize itself to where it wants to be based on the maintenance program I am now following!

And, I'm okay and prepared for the bodily changes!

But, you better FUreakin' believe that...

I will continue to train hard (obviously)...

Eat clean...

Now please enjoy my #WIAW Eats which, I will be having today (and more!):

Banana Oatmeal Protein Bites
Basil and Allégro Cheese Egg Whites
Dijon Mustard Salmon
SuperFit's fave salad!

And, most importantly...

I will enjoy life for all the goodness it has to offer! (In more ways than one!)

All in all...

I am committed to my healthy and active lifestyle and...

I am grateFUl for all the things I've come experience in my journey to Health, Fitness and my overall well-being!

So is Teddy ;)

Now...

It's time for me to continue moving forward and continue living in the present moment!

I don't know where I'm headed to or plan for next but...

I'm happy and that's what matters most :)

Questions FU You...

1. What do you love most about healthy living?
2. Do you plan out your meals?
3. What's on the menu today?

  5. i love that you are mindful still. Your body needs to get back to normal, slowly but surely. Maintenance mode here we go!

  6. I love your approach - that's pretty much my mentality right now too. Training hard and eating (mostly) clean just makes me feel good. That said, I'm going skiing next week and that will involve some vacation treats. :)

Today... I'm having the leftover Italian bake I posted from last night and more pumpkin muffins. I still need to figure out dinner...

I had salmon and bs as a snack today lol

  7. It's inspiring to see you continue to be mindful, healthy and balanced. Most would be stuffing themselves after such a strick diet and yet you continue to care for that gorgeous body of yours.

  8. Oh I miss spin so much. And can you share the chickpea recipe???? Looks yummy. I am not always great about meal planning. I keep a well stocked pantry with a handful of go-to dishes that are easy. This week I actually did really good and Monday I made dinner for Tuesday at the same time. Made life simple last night ;-)

  9. I've noticed that the hardest thing for competitors is the maintenance phase post-show. I love your mindset, and how you speak of "the machine" and how you're ready to see changes in your body and won't get riled up over it. It's important to know your body well enough to know what it needs, despite what you've done in training or despite the misconceptions. I really like that about you...you set a really great example...you scream "balance".

This journey has taught me a lot and I appreciate what I've learned about my body and how much I've come to appreciate and LOVE it...pre-comp or not! :)

  12. LOVE!!!! Yes, for me, it was hard knowing that competition bod can't stay! ;) Actually though, that is what got me to where I am today & the years after I competed - to be my best but with moderation....

YES I plan the meals & know exactly what I plan to eat today! It sometimes changes though if the bod id not hungry yet OR too hungry! ;-)

What do I love about healthy living - at 55 tomorrow, I still have muscles & can take care of myself! :)

You have the most amazing attitude about life Kierston!

  14. I love that you are sharing that a competition body is only there for that one day. I think so many uninformed people look at fitness competitors and think that they can achieve that body in maintenance. Thank you for sharing your experience. Such an important message.

    1. It is a misconception that your competition day body is what you will maintain. It's not. Well, it definitely isn't for me. My focus "off-season" is to continue being healthy, active and enjoy everything to the fullest :)

  20. Your photos always rock. And that first photo? I can almost see your bum. What does Mr. FU think about that? Tell him it's cool, if people stare too long you can beat em up cause you are FU-tastic.

You and your pup are the best!

  21. Enjoy this phase... I was curious how eating changes when you're not in serious training. I'm glad you can relax a little bit on the eating front, while still working hard and eating well. Love the pic of you with your friends and furball. :)

  22. Love this--and I look forward to seeing what your maintenance training and eats look like! It really is all about eating well (most of the time) and enjoying life (and the occasional treat).

    1. My training won't change much aside from tweaking my workouts here and there! I train heavy all year round with a few light weeks intertwined :)

  23. I'm glad you aren't going ape eating everything in sight! What's the point of all your training then right? It will only make getting into competition shape 10x harder.

Enjoy spinning! I miss it so but I'm jumping on my trainer now.

Lindt sea salt dark chocolate = LOVE!

  24. I was wondering if your workouts changed much in your competition off season and I see now in a reply you gave to one of your commenters that they don't. Love the pics of Teddy, always! You seem so happy and I am happy for you.

  27. I'm not a good planner, food-wise. Usually in my car on the way home from work I figure out what's for dinner. Sometimes as I'm looking into the fridge to see what's in there.

I can see the necessity of planning though, coming off your competition eating. It would be easy to go overboard on the celebration eating, or on the other end of the spectrum, stay too restrictive.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You are looking fierce in that first photo! LOVE IT. I am so bad at meal planning which leads to no healthy snacks. Reminder to get better at meal planning! :)

  29. I love that you are enjoying and resting and relaxing and living in the present moment. You definitely deserve it. The banana oatmeal protein bites look so cute! And Teddy too. Love Teddy :-)

  30. Dark chocolate, cheese, and fruit are the perfect treat in my opinion! I usually plan my meals to make grocery shopping and cooking quicker because I am typically pretty busy during the week.

  31. I love how I feel and the energy I have ... oh! and my skin ... that's what I love about healthy living!

ANd I haven't planned my meals lately, but I need to get back to that. I'm starting to get off track ;)

  32. Yay for sweets! Enjoy the post-comp goodness :-)
