7 Weeks Out: Turn Your Can'ts into Cans!

Oh my goodness...

The weeks are going by so quickly as I get ready for both my half-marathon and Fitness Competition that...

It feels like just yesterday when I started with my preparations! (Well, not really but you know what I mean! lol)


Time is definitely ticking and...

I'm getting more excited (and slightly nervous) as the seconds, minutes, hours and days go by!

So let's recap the past week in training shall we?!


I celebrated my seventh week into my fitness pre-comp prep by running a really FUn (and surprise) 17.5K with Nookie and Nikki!

I was beyond excited!!!
They were excited for me too :)

We tried a new (and beautiFUl route) which...

Ended being one of the best loops I've done to date!

Must have been the luck and power of the #TeddyHug
Or perhaps, the #TeddyPunch lol

Let's talk about the run....

As I didn't know where or how far we would be going (although I did know it would be a long run)...

Both Nookie and Nikki surprised me at the end of our loop by telling me how far we had actually ran! (I jumped, high fived and hugged them both! Me?! Running 17.5K when just last year I ran down the street and walked back home because it was so hard?! (True story) Yes, that's right, me! lol)

Needless to say...

I felt super good and confident about being ready to run my half in less than 3 weeks!

And on top of that...

I'm so lucky that these amazing ladies will be running by my side, as support to me, on race day! (I am so very thankFUl! Yeee!)

Did I mention it would be my Birthday run as well?!


My birthday is September 25 and the race is the 23rd! (I love my birthday and I'm actually surprised I haven't planned anything as of yet! That being said, my birthday cake will have to wait until post-competition! I already put my order in with my Mom! She makes the best cakes! Mmm Mmm! Perhaps I'll have a Baked Oatmeal Protein Muffin Top with a candle on it on race day lol)

Moving on...

In terms of my preparations towards the stage...

I'm feeling great at the moment! (Although today, as I'm writing this, I'm itching for a nap!)

But I didn't!
I went to the gym and had an awesome workout instead!


I had loads of FUn getting creative with my eats over the past week! (I've got new recipes coming your way soon!)

In addition to this...

My training has been going really well too!

My strength is good and I continue to love, love the feeling of empowerment lifting weights brings into my life! (It's such a great feeling and if you fear the weight room, don't!)

All in all...

It's been an eventFUl week! (Which is a good thing!)

And in terms of this coming weekend....

I've got loads of FUn activities lined up in my schedule so...

I can't wait to share all of it with ya'll soon!


If there's one thing I am reminded of this week it's this...

If you are in the mentality that you cannot do something, then you're probably right. Why?! Because you are doubting yourself and your potential entirely! Change your thoughts and attitude and start believing in yourself and what you are capable of achieving. Turn your Can'ts into Cans! The only person standing in the way of getting what you're after is you, if you let yourself be that person. Trust in your capabilities, be patient with yourself and your goals. One step at a time. You will get there.

    I love lifting because it makes me feel strong. I'm a chest and back fan - squats make me feel sick; but it's totally worth it (as a runner, I get to do the low weight, high rep thing. Ick).

    I always doubt my potential - thanks for the pick me up!

  7. HAPPY ALMOST BIRTHDAY! (Even though it's 18 days away hehe) I LOVE lifting weights because it makes me confident and STRONG! The weight room is my happy place. :D

  9. What I love about liftong weights, is that it's always between you and the Iron. You can do it will get no where...same as life, or you can focus and push yourself, and always improve.

    I don't doubt my body only knows what my mind tells it!!

    And this weekend includes, training, family, friends and a seminar!!

  10. Sounds like all is going awesome! I definitely doubt my potential with things I am not the best at especially running so I find it really is best to push myself to see what I actually am capable of!

    Do I doubt my potential - yes - outside of the health arena I am not great compared to in the gym - I am working on it...
