Tik Tok: 1 More Sleep To Race Day!

YEeeeeeeeeeee!

I can't believe I'm just a day away from running my very first half-marathon!

This was the day I signed up for my first 10K race!

I won't deny...

It's a little surreal.

I mean...

This is coming from the girl who said...

She'd never run! Ever!

You got that right!
source

Let alone...

Become a social runner! (As opposed to the scared anti-social one I once was!)

My very first 'big' group run!
You see...
I did become a social runner after all ;)

Now, just after...

little over a year since beginning my running journey and...

Setting a goal for myself to run a half-marathon by the end of 2012...

I'm almost there! (Holy guacamole!)

I mean...

I'm just one sleep away from doing the Army Half!

Dodo.

Moving forward...

After the excitement of running my first 10K race back in May...

And...

The Spartan Beast in June...

Spartan Beast Warriors!

The time I spent training since then has had its ups and downs with off and on injuries.

But, for the past little/long while...

Things have been going really well! (Super happy about that, no doubt!)

Also (I have to admit)...

Things have taken a turn for the better the moment I stopped focusing on numbers! (Such as time, pace, distance etc...)

I now know that...

I'm the type of runner who just wants to go with the flow and enjoy every stride I make! (Without setting any real expectations! I mean, I don't even wear a watch (or turn on my running app) anymore. And if I'm with my running buddies, they will usually surprise me with numbers at the end of our run lol)

Of course...

Challenging yourself is a good thing but at the same time, it's also okay to...

Let yourself just be. (And improve at your own pace, pardon the pun!)

Just being.
As CotterCrunch would put it :)

**Running is something I want to FUlly enjoy without putting any pressure on myself to be better every time I go out. I don't want to feel that feeling of disappointment if I'm slower one day over the next (which was starting to happen). I want to listen to, be FUlly aware and present [of] my body and mind without being distracted by something telling me how well (or not so well) I'm doing. I just wanna do and be. Simple as that.**

If you're wondering about a goal time for the half...

I don't really have one.

If anything...

Whatever time I end up running it in, well...

I can only improve on it the next time around! (My goal is to enjoy the ride and appreciate how far I've come in the past year! Hey, it beats running to the end of my street and walking back! lol)

Getting into the finer details...

In terms of my FUel...

It's all been calculated in accordance with my Fitness Competition coming up in 4 weeks! (There's a loading plan in place!)

You can be sure my Baked Oatmeal Protein Muffins
will be part of the plan!

As for my runners...

I said from the beginning that I'd be running in my Mizuno Waves!

Thank you Mizuno for sending me this awesome pair of kicks!
I've been riding the wave since the day I slipped them on!

And with regards to the company....

I will have the best girls by my side who have been so integral to my running journey!

**Nikki will be running the last 500m with us as she is currently suffering from a foot injury! Whether she be running the whole race or not, I am so very thankFUl for having her a part of this experience! To both Nikki and Nookie, you have made this journey what it is today...amazing! Thank you both so much for everything, and I mean everything! xo**

Love ya!!
xoxo

One last note...

If there's something I'd like to add before veering off into FUll racing mode, it's this....

I will be dedicating this run to my Grampa who served our country!

My Grampa is truly an amazing individual filled with strength, courage and a heart a gold.

I couldn't be more proud of being grand-daughter to, well, my Grampa!

My Grampa, sister Kiki and gorgeous Mama!

I should have you know that...

After I told him I'd be running the Army Run, and he being totally excited for me...

I'm pretty excited too!

He asked if...

I was going to be in the news!

After chuckling a little to myself (I mean how cute is that?!), I told him, with a big smile...

I'd probably show up somewhere on the internet ;)

Doing some kind of #FUFACE

***

Alrighty, well...

It's time for me to go!

But before I actually leave you today, I just wanted to send my...

Good luck wishes to everyone racing this weekend and...

Give my thanks to all of you (ya you!) for the support and words of encouragement you have given me throughout my journey to my first half-marathon!!!

And a special thanks to my one and only SuperFit...

You made me see and realize that there is, in fact, life beyond the couch!

Our first 'couple' run :)

Question FU You...

Memories from your first race, what comes to mind?

Stay Tuned FU More On *CaNdY FiT*
