5 Tips: Easing The Pain in Fitness Competition Heels!

If there's one thing I know for certain it's...

I'm terrible when it comes to walking in heels!

I, most often than not, do my very best at avoiding that extra height as...

I find myself focusing too much on how I'm walking!

I swear, all I seem to concentrate on when I wear my pumps is...

Not to fall flat on my face or get stuck in a crack of some sort! (True story, it's happened more than once!)

Well....

Over the past few weeks, I've had to suck it up since...

There's a huge need for me to get realllll comfortable walking in my 5 inch stilleto heels for my upcoming Fitness Competitions with both Serious About Fitness and Physique Canada!
Without a doubt...

There's been an adjustment phase since getting re-acquainted with my competition heels! (I honestly thought I had broken them in since I last wore them and on top of that, having lent them out to a friend, but no, it's like I've never worn them before! lol)

I'm not going to deny...

It's been a painFUl reunion!

With that being said...

I would much prefer befriending these spikeFUl heels and suffer the pain through countless hours of practice than to...

Look like I'm actually in pain once on stage!

In all honesty...

I'm certain my feet will have grown some second fifth skin by the time I hit the stage! (Much like they did the last time! Ouchy!)

Soon time, I know...

I will be able to show my stilletos 'Who's boss'! (Me damnit! lol)

Now, as I continue befriending my pumps...

Here are 5 tips (I would suggest based on my own experience) to rock your competition heels:
  1. Break them in as soon you can and wear them around the house as often as possible! (Wear them while doing the dishes, laundry, while you're watching TV or putting out the trash! Whenever you get the chance to, slip 'em on! Honestly, I need to take my own advice and do this more often! lol)
  2. Master your walk. Don't look like your focusing all of your attention on every step you take! (Errr...me?! lol)
  3. Own your heels and be confident walking and posing in them!
  4. Sign up for stage presence and posing classes! (I know I did! See end of post for more info on this!)
  5. Practice, Practice, Practice! (Did I say that already?! I can't stress this enough! This has saved me from total awkwardness!)

And please, don't get me wrong...

I may be comfortable walking in my trainer 3 inch heels, but as of right now....

I'm still having to practice on this whole 'owning' my competition heels thing! (Two very different things, but I'm getting there!)

2011

Thank goodness...

I've got 5 more weeks to practice my routine (T-walk) and posing for both federations! (Yes, 5 weeks!!!)

Oooh Ooohh...

Did I mention I went for my first fitting with Joan from Day Dreams Fitness Wear for my competition suit?!

Well I did, and so did Nookie! (Well, she got herself a new suit to sport!)

Without giving you a sneak peek (I know, I know!)...

I absolutely love my new suit!!! (I can't wait for all of you to see it!)

I went for my first fitting a couple of weeks ago!
That being at the 6 weeks marker ;)

    1. You rock no matter what you do! :)

Taking those classes and practising are truly essential. I couldn't imagine stepping out on stage in those stilletos without the practice...actually I could. I'd take baby steps then fall flat on my #FUFACe ;)

  8. I wear heels all the time just so I'm not standing at my husband's waist LOL. But they aren't stilettos mind you. And I'm a huge klutz actually. I've definitely had heels get stuck in cracks. That's fun ;-) I wonder if bodyglide might help in those heels?
