12 Weeks Out: Feeling Good, Feeling Strong!

To kick off the 12 week countdown in my Fitness Competition Prep...

I had a:

I also...

I FUelled up at the grocery store...

Then headed over, with SuperFit, for a dinner over at The Masta's house!

He made lots and lots of food!
And people brought some amazing looking eats too!
Chicken and Veggie Vermicelli Rolls.
Hummus and Pita!

I ended up having an amazing salad topped with Oven Broiled Salmon seasoned with Olive Oil, Fresh Rosemary, Garlic and Salt and Pepper to taste! (Thanks for recipe idea Chris!)

I made it a few days later (twice) because it was so Mmmm Mmm Yumm!


I did tweak the recipe! (Just a little bit! lol What I did was use my salad dressing recipe as a base and added from there...)

Ingredients to mix (serves more than one):

3 T Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 T Lemon Juice
1 T Dijon Mustard
2 cloves of minced Garlic (I like it really garlikeeee)
2 T Chopped Parsley
Salt and Pepper to taste and
Some fresh Rosemary to top

Coat your salmon with this mixture and broil it in the oven at 400F for about 15 minutes (until top has browned slightly!)

And no...

I didn't have the amazing looking Cannolis for dessert! (Although, I can't say I know what I'm missing because I've never had a Cannoli before!)

When it comes to my running...

I had mentioned last week my calf was giving me issues!

As a result of that...

I had to take a week off to give it the rest it required! (Boo but a smart move!)

Come the day of my test run...

I did 3K with some slight discomfort!


My ankle seemed sensitive! (My calf not so much!)

Let's just say...

I've been careFUl with my runs and I'm hoping everything will regulate itself soon, given the proper at-home care and some good stretching!

There's no denying...

I want to get back to my distance soon!

**I'm going out for my third run of the week today! WoO HoO!**

In terms of my training...

I changed up my routine (a little) in terms of when I train certain muscle groups! (No specific reason, I just wanted to give my schedule a little shake!)

I have to say...

I have gained some strength as I was able to increase some of my weights with certain exercises! (All while keeping proper form!)

I found my very first pair of training gloves I had purchased
when I was just getting started at the gym!
Aaaah memories! ;)

**It's one thing to lift heavy and it's another add weight, not have proper form, sacrifice actually working the targeted muscle group and then risk getting injured! Be sure you always maintain proper form when executing an exercise! Don't train your ego, train your muscles! And, if you don't know how to do it, ask! Simple as that! :)**

I should also mention...

I was super excited and totally pumped when FitFluential created and shared, on their facebook page, this motivational captured image of SuperFit and me! (If you haven't 'liked' them yet, head on over and give them some L.O.V.E!)

All in all...

My second week into my competition prep went well!

I'm feeling good, I'm feeling strong and...

I'm getting more and more excited as the days go by!

I'm also thrilled that Teddy Bear's FUr is growing back nicely! (Since his 'bad' haircut!)

I just finished brushing him :)
I love my Puppy...
And SuperFit :)

  1. I love that pic Fitfluential shared of you and SuperFit and of course Teddy is adorable. Even with a bad haircut growing out. You always have the yummiest food. I do enjoy working out alone and with someone. It really just depends on my workout goal. Long slow run = great time for friends. Speed workout = single. For me anyway!

    I actually prefer working out alone. I like going at my pace and not having to worry about someone else's schedule.
    Keep up your awesome work for the competition. I'm eager to continue hearing updates along the way! Wishing you the best!

  3. great job taking the time off to help the calf out! very smart! i honestly don't like canolis! i've had them before, and i think they are too sweet, and the outside is too crunchy for me. i know many people LOVE them tho!!! generally i prefer solo workouts because i love to go at my own pace and not have to worry about anything else. it's sort of my "me and God time" and i love it! have a wonderful day, and thanks for sharing the awesome food and insights!! keep up the training! you're close!! SPA love!!!

  4. Nice job Kierston! You are so dedicated. LOVE that :) I prefer training solo simply because I am really intense and fast. I don't like to sot around and socialize. I am in the gym to get it done and get things moving. Sometimes though I will train with my friend who has the same attitude, so that works out perfectly! And I have never had a cannoli either. I'm going to go hunt some down. ;)

  6. LOVE cannolis. I haven't had one in eons though. I like a combo of training solo or with someone. It's nice to switch it up. Take care of that calf - I found out the hard way that tight calves can lead so some major foot/ankle issues. Keep on rockin' on!!!

  7. That food, especially the salmon, looks so good! I prefer training either with my dad, a friend or solo because I usually hit the gym or go for a run in the early a.m. Yes cannolis! My friend used to call me Yoli Cannoli haha. They're tasty but I don't eat them anymore. SPA love xo

  10. You look great & like I said before - F the trolls! :-) You have such amazing friends & family - very lucky you!!!

    YES to train smart & leave the ego at home! I see that ego at the gym way too often.. they look at me & think why I am in better shape than them (guys) & if they just would back off from the ego & lift correctly - well, you know it! :-)

  11. I am mixed I like doing workouts with others who will push me harder but I also enjoy my alone time to think while running :-)

  12. Totally with you on the form! I feel more accomplished when I do an exercise with stellar form than with crazy weight. The weight will come, but you have to know what you're doing, and of course be safe! :) LOVE that FitFluential image!!

    Love all the pictures. Definitely go easy on your calf. I have one that's cranky and if I ignore the warning signals, I end up with a lot more issues than if I take an extra day off here and there.
