9 Weeks Out: Staycationing, Competition Bikini and Running!

I can't believe how fast the countdown to the competition stage has been!

I mean...

In 9 weeks (8 as of tomorrow), I will be competing with both Serious About Fitness and Physique Canada Federations!

Before I get started with my competition prep updates...

I first want to talk to you about my running as...

I do have a half-marathon coming up in about 4 weeks!

As you all know...

I had some ankle/calf issues that I had to work through recently, but...

I'm happy to report that one:

- Everything has healed up (with good rest, slow distance progression and at-home care!) and two...
- I was able to run 15K no problem (just a few days ago!)! (Everything from my breathing to my body felt good!)

Let's just say....

I was thrilled to be back on track! (Thanks Nikki for a great run and talk!)

**I did get into a bit of trouble with my Coach aka. SuperFit as I wasn't supposed to go as far as we did based on the carb cycle I was following up until that point. As a result, we had to readjust a few things so that I didn't ruin my carb 'load' by burning it all away! It's a tricky process, I won't deny that! FUrthermore, we are being super careFUl so as not to lose any muscle while I follow a pre-comp diet and continue to run. I should note, Nikki and I had not planned on a set distance, we just went with the flow! Oopsie! Lesson learned. Talk to Coach first!**

If you're wondering about what my goal time is...

I haven't set one for my half because...

I simply want to go with the flow and run!

No expectations, no pressure, no nothing!

I simply...

Want to do and be my best :)

And quite honestly...

There's nothing wrong with that! (My goal is to run a half and I'm holding myself accountable to that! I mean, one year ago I laughed at the thought of running! Who knew I'd be getting ready for a 21K race down the road?! Not me! lol)

My first pair of real running shoes!
Mizuno Wave Inspire 7s
I was given the 8's as a gift via @MizunoRunning not long ago!
I love them!!!
I still don't have my own Garmin.
This is SuperFit's.
Yep, that's my thigh.

Moving into my competition prep and our staycation....

When it comes to my training...

I've had the wonderFUl opportunity to train, all week, with SuperFit...

We've both been on holidays

We trained Back with Little M on Tuesday :)

There's also no denying...

We've been taking FUll advantage of our staycation, on top of getting our fitness on!

Deciding to drive to Montréal to visit the Biodome! (Honestly, we got stuck in traffic for a long, lonnnng time both getting there and back! I think we saw more of the car than we did MTL! lol)

This place is really neat as you get to walk through 5 different climates on top of...

Learning about and seeing all sorts of animals and plants from various ecosystems! (Check out their website for more info!)

We started off in the Tropical Rainforest.
A Capybara.
A Fitness Monkey was also seen in that climate.
Batman never came out.
This Scarlet ibis put on a show for us!
Biggest fish I've ever seen!
Atlantic Sturgeon
Ducks and stuff in the Gulf of St. Lawrence
Penguins in the Sub-Antarctic Islands

If you ever get a chance to visit Montreal...

I'd suggest you go! (On top of visiting the Insectarium and Botanical Gardens!)

Okay, competition stuff....

As competition day is fast approaching...

I had to get ball rolling with my new posing suit designed by Joan MacDonald from...

After scheduling a meeting with her to discuss my suit design (custom fit to me and my body)...

I couldn't wait to get started!

And I should mention...

Nikki joined us too as she would be adding more bling to her suit for the competition in October!

Joan and Nikki!

From picking out my suit colour, to how we were going to make it shine, to meeting her new cat...

We were in for a great time!

And there's no denying...

I left pretty excited with what we came up with!

Without a doubt...

I can't wait for my first fitting, which is in a couple of weeks!

Here's a sneak peek at what I picked out!

That's it folks!

I'm now going to enjoy the last few days I have left of my staycation!

Especially with my brand spanking new Costco card...

Have a great weekend!

Questions FU You...

1. If you're running a race, do you always set a goal time?
2. What's happening this weekend?

Stay Tuned FU More On *CaNdY FiT*

  1. Absolutely cannot wait to see your new suit!

  2. So glad you're up to running again. That's great to hear. And I have never carb-cycled or tried for a comp. But I do work really hard to maintain my muscle with all the running. I find that the closer I get to a half, the less muscle I have again. Would love to see a post about how to maintain the mass if not build.

    1. I'm really happy about it too :)

I can tell you one thing, I've grown some calves from running that's for sure!

  3. I have the most fun running when I don't set goal times (and then sometimes I PR!). I think you will have a blast running your half if you keep the "go with the flow" attitude! Can't wait to hear about it ;)

    1. Definitely keeping that 'go with the flow' attitude. I like that :) Thanks!

  4. Funny that you ask about running and weekend plans...I'm buying new running shoes this weekend! I need some that really fit me. I've never really focused on that before, but now I understand the importance of getting the right fit.

    1. Oooh, looking forward to hearing what shoe you got!

  5. So glad you are able to run again!!! I think it's awesome that you are just gonna run how you feel and not worry about a goal! Usually my goal is to have fun and finish! I can't wait to see your suit!! I love the color you sneak peeked! ;-)

    1. Thanks Mindy! Can't wait for my first fitting!

  6. So exciting!!! I love to color of your soon-to-be suit. It is going to look stunning on you! I've decided I want a green suit for my comp, but I think kelly green.

    1. Thank you!!!

Kelly green, very nice! Bling that up, POW! It's gonna look great :)

There are sooooo many colours to pick from!

  7. Kudos to you for running and competing! I think it's good to see a strength competitor showing that you can do cardio too!

  8. You are so funny. Love the Costco card! I know how challenging the carb cycling is for physique competition alone. I can't imagine trying to add the correct fueling for long distance running in there. I'm glad the training is going well.

I love capybaras! They are so cool.

    1. Thank you!

We are definitely being very careful with my fuelling and carb cycling so as no to lose muscle while I run.

The Cabybaras were my fave animal there!

  9. I love your attitude about just doing your best!!!!

Ummmmmmmmmmmm are you sure Superfit abs are real!!!! ;-) Love to put him nest to that idiot from Jersey Shore (I don't watch). He has nothing on your homey!!!

You guys are just so cute & so much fun! I love looking at all your pics!

    1. Thanks Jody! <3

His Abs are amazing and there allllll year round :)

  10. Love the green on the suit... bet its gonna look awesome.

and we are Mizuno twins! Sort of. Have a great race... running for the fun of it is always the best way to go.

  11. The green is GORGEOUS. I love it. :) And I am excited for your upcoming half marathon! Rooting you on as always. Also, I can't stop laughing that you did the Fu Face for your Costco card. xD You are too funny Kierston!

    1. Thanks Britt!

      I really appreciate the support!

  12. Wow - what gorgeous photos! I second Brittany - lol at the Fu Face ;-).

I just got back from a long - and for me that means carbs the night before and HEAPS of food after. How on earth are you managing a half with the diet? Wonder Woman! You're going to go so well - I'm excited to see the race recap.

    1. Hehehe. Thanks! :)

4 more weeks until the half! Oh M. G.

  13. OMG, sooo funny on your Costco card!

    1. LOL. I was so happy she told me I could do any face I wanted.

  14. Wow what a great color! I've always been partial to green and that's green with personality. I never knew they were or could be custom made.
