I would like to introduce you to the lovely....
Chantal is 46 years of age and will be competing for the very first time in the Serious About Fitness (SAF) and Physique Canada competitions being held on June 16, 2012!
1. Chantal, tell me a little bit about yourself:
I was born in Toronto but raised in the Eastern Townships. I am married with three sons and one grand-daugther!
I'm an IT consultant working for the Federal Government. I enjoy listening to jazz and blues, and love relaxing on a patio with a glass of wine.

2. Were you always involved in health and fitness?
I was always fairly slim, but after turning 40, my metabolism really slowed down. I started at Florida Fitness Aylmer in 2007, which is when I met Ken. In my meeting with him, he measured my body fat (27%+) and set me up on a program.
Now in my preparation towards my first competition, I am currently at 13.4%!Going to the gym has become a way of life for me, and I actually enjoy it!
3. Why did you decide or what inspired you to compete?
I was discussing competing with my brother last May 2011. He died last summer in a car accident. The last time we spoke, I was really unsure as to whether or not I could compete but I figured, why not give it my best shot!
4. What keeps you motivated and focused to stay on track with your training and diet?
I am self-motivated. I just want something that is my own that I can be proud of and say, I have accomplished this! It's not about winning. It's about getting up there and doing it! I want my children to know that it's important to set goals and objectives, and work hard at achieving them.

5. What do you find most difficult about your prep?
The most difficult part is the "strutting my stuff", I find that to be a challenge because I'm quite shy. I won't say the diet is easy either, because it's not! I find that most of my time I either spend preparing food or planning what I will eat next; and it not always be food I want to eat. My other challenge is wine, as my husband says, I whine a lot about not having wine!

6. What you love most about your prep?
I have enjoyed the change in me. I am stronger, not just physically but mentally.
7. What have you learned thus far in your journey to the stage?
I have so much more respect for those who have done this before me, they are really my inspiration. I would not have made it to this point without their advice and support.
8. What are some tips/words of wisdom you would share with those who might be interested in competing?
Set small goals, don't look too far ahead, do your best and push yourself!
9. Favorite motivational quote?
