Guilt-Free CHIPS + A FUn Giveaway!!!

**This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to all who participated!**

Who likes chips?!

Me.

That's right.
Me. FU.

Do I ever eat them?! (What do you think? lol)

Well...
Maybe once or twice a year I'll have a few ;)

But when I was younger…

Things were much different!

Why? Because…

I used to be a Chip monster!

No...
Not a Chocolate Chip Cookie Monster ;)

Yes…

A Chip Monster!

Tha Masta and I used to eat Ruffles Sour Cream and Onion Chips all the time!

So good.

I would also buy a bag after school almost every day because I loved them so much! (Ketchup, Dill Pickle, Salt & Vinegar, All-Dressed, BBQ…whatever flavour it was, I was always chipping away!)

Fast forwarding to the present…

Things have changed! (I think that’s pretty obvious lol)

It's Healthy Food that's what!
Cookie Monster will never get it ;)

I think now some might say I’m more along the lines of…

A Protein Monster!

Rawr!

Having said all of this though…

This post has nothing to do with Protein (well, almost nothing) but yet it as everything to do with…

Chips!

That’s right. You heard me. Chips.

C-H-I-P-S!

So why this sudden urge to get Chippy? Well...

It’s all thanks to…

This awesome chip making gadget I was introduced to by my Mom at The Cookware Centre! (It's a Family run business) :)

Recently...

I dropped by the store for a little visit...

And...

She offered me....

Chips!
I thought she was joking lol

My Mom then immediately handed me the miracle maker...

You mean this made that?!
Ummm...
Yes please!

I'm telling you…

This gadget has made my childhood favorite treat come back to life! (It’s aaaaalllliiiiive!)

The Mastrad TopChips Kit has turned this junk-food staple into something…

Healthy!

It can transform…

  • Potatoes;
  • Sweet Potatoes;
  • Beets;
  • Carrots;
  • Apples; and (not limited to)
  • Mangoes…

Into tasty, crispy chips! (Plus, you don’t even have to feel guilty about it!)

**If you are watching your carb intake, be mindFUl of your portion sizes**

And (it doesn’t stop there!)

The best part of this 100% silicone surface gadget is the fact…

It doesn't require any:

  • Oil; or
  • Added fat; but simply…

3-5 minutes of your cooking time! (It used to take me 45-50 minutes to bake them in the oven! This thing is a real time saver if you're in a rush or want to whip up something quick!)

So are you ready to get your Chip on?!

Then let’s go!

Instructions are as follows:

1. Scrub your veggie or fruit of choice clean (I went with a Sweet Potato for my first try!);

I used half of it.

2. Slice the potato using the Mandolin provided in the kit (I didn’t peel mine, I like the skin!);

CareFUl not to slice your finger.
(Yes, I did slice my finger. Again!)

3. Place the sliced potatoes on the tray;

4. Put them in the microwave for about 3-5 minutes (all power dependent!);

5. Once ready (crispy to the touch,) let cool for 30 seconds;

6. Top the chips with your favourite toppings (Salt and Pepper, Cinnamon, Garlic Salt, Cayenne Pepper etc…);

I used Sea Salt and Cinnamon.

And...

7. Enjoy!

I know the official Taste Tester did! (He likes his Chips nice and crispy and this gadget did just that!)

He didn't leave me any lol

If I could make one recommendation…

Eat the chips once cooled to keep the crispiness! (As opposed to saving them for FUture nibbling.)

Also...

To make the most of this crunchy FUn…

Add a lean protein source to go along side! (I told you this post would incorporate some Protein in it lol!)

Or...

Try dipping the potato chips in a Greek Yogurt Dip!

3 Layer Greek Yogurt Dip!

  12. What a great gadget! I would try sweet potatoes with sea salt and perhaps a sprinkle of vinegar! Also apple with cinnamon and maybe a touch of nutmeg... I am sure I can come up with some more awesome ones if I had the tools, what a wonderful idea, I don't think there is anyone out there that doesn't have a weakness for chips, and the possibilities are endless!

  13. I think I would use apple chips and top them with cinnimon. Or.. sweet potato chips! I make them in my oven all of the time..but they are not as crunchy as I'd like. For those, I would season with lemon juice and chili powder!

  14. I wonder if this would work with kale? I'd top it with ginger!

  15. Nice! I have one from Regal where you stand the slices up but yours looks more reliable ... would love to try it!

    I would be making apple chips and sweet potato chips first, with lots of cinnamon on them... then Yukon gold potatoes for The Captain with salt and cracked pepper. I think zucchini would be great too1

    Thanks for the opportunity to try it out.

  16. I've had peach chips before and they are to die for. I would definitely try it with peaches. I'm a bit weird so I would probably look for the most random fruits or veggies at the supermarket and just turn them into chips. Maybe.. zucchini chips? And I would probably put a bit of sea salt or cinnamon on them! :)

  17. It'd be a toss up between cinnamon flavored sweet potatoes & regular old yukon gold with some sea salt. Mmmmmm I like anything crunchy :)
