8 Weeks Out: Making my List and Checking it Twice!

A man in a red suit once told me to write a list and check it twice...

Luckily for me, SuperFit requests that I continue this tradition :)

Over the years, writing out list after list has helped me get organized in more ways than one...

Take for example...

Outlining my cheats...

You gotta plan them out! ;)

Making my grocery lists...

I have to keep the Fridge FUll...
And not FUrget the essentials!

And writing out meals for the week....

This one's for SuperFit...
I make us separate meals...(especially right now)
Good thing I learned how to cook and most importantly..
LOVE it!

Learning to jot things down has only helped me to stay on track!

That way, I know what I have coming up and I don't have to worry about forgetting anything!

As I'm often on the road, I need to be extra organized and prepared when it comes to my pre-comp preparation....

By doing so, I can relax once I check-in at the airport, knowing I brought everything I need...

I  can 'chill' knowing I didn't FUrget a thing :)

If I know I'm going to be away for an extended period of time, I need to ensure I've packed everything I need to keep my routine going (to the best of my ability)...

My top 3 essentials are always:

1. Gym Clothes;
2. Running Shoes; and
3. Protein (powder, canned, cooked).

In the past, my top 3 essentials were:

1. An array of shoes (probably 5 pairs for 3 days) and belts;
2. Double the clothes I actually needed; and
3. Hats (I have a hat collection; I used to wear a different one almost every day!)

The Ol' Hat Collection :)

Just recently, I knew I'd be going away for a FU days and as we all know, I'm in pre-comp mode, so my 'diet' does not allow for much flexibility....

Can you guess what I wrote?

A List!!!

Well, I typed it.
Do you think I checked it twice?!

I've now become an expert packer, thanks to my wonderFUl lists! (And I must say I've drastically changed the amount of useless stuff I need, like 5 pairs of shoes!!!).

**I'm going to pat myself on the back for that one because I'm known for bringing far too much!**

Although now, all the weight of my luggage is solely from the food and supplies I pack!

There's no fooling around! ;)
The bag ended breaking :(

I guess with the amount of chicken I brought, it makes sense....

I made sure to cook enough chicken for my time away from home!
Don't worry, there was a fridge in my room...
Anyway...
BBQ Chicken is the best!

Bringing my own food prevents me from having to special order all the time!

Trust me...

It saves me in:

1. Time (placing a very specific order);
2. Worry (about how my food is actually being cooked); and
3.  Panic (if I can't have any of the options offered).

I can simply settle in my temporary space with absolutely no need to go out and find the food I need to keep my body happy...

My home away from home ;)

And continue on as if I were in the comfort of my own home....

Bloggin' and Eatin'...
See, just like home. Well, almost ;)

As I knew I'd be faced with temptation throughout the week, I made sure to schedule my meals and breaks during which time everyone else would be eating as well.

During my time away, I made sure to keep the pump going and finish my remaining cardio for the week.

Needless to say, I was a happy cookie ~ Mmmm, CooooooooKieee.

Now getting back to the gym....

I mean FUtness Centre ;)

It had two rooms...

One for free weights :)

And one for cardio!

I had never tried this bike before.
I figured I'd give it try :)

All in all, it was Baby Fu Approved!

After my evening workouts, I'd have a Protein shake and watch TV.

FU the Cup. lol

For breakfast, I'd make myself...

A Shake and a Bowl of Oatmeal
I brought a Kettle with me :)

On my last day, I ventured to the breakfast area and helped myself to...

Salmon, Tomatoes and Black Coffee

I had chosen to stay away from the breakfast buffet simply to avoid any temptations.

But on this day, I decided to take a chance and...

I was happy to find something FIT for a FU :)

**If there hadn't have been anything for me, I would have gone back to my room to make myself my oatmeal and shake combo**

On that same day...

I was faced with one of my ultimate temptation, cupcakes!

I wasn't a happy FU...It brought me back to....

The "No CuPcAkE For You FU" Day!
http://candyfit.blogspot.com/2011/02/no-cupcake-for-you-fu.html

Ah well...

Good thing I had brought my own snack ;)

I also made a point to venture out one night for dinner....

I ended up at a restaurant, where I special ordered my meal (yup, I placed one special order while away - it beats having to make 15!)...

It was SuperFit Approved :)
Trust me, I called and asked!
No oil ~ Simple & Clean.

It felt good to get out and breathe in some fresh air (and later smelling like a Fajita).

It's a good smell isn't it?! ;) ~ Perhaps not SuperFit approved lol

Either way, I was happy to enjoy some fresh FU'd made especially for me, Baby FU! ~As the past week had been spent eating what I had brought from home!

On my last day...

I finished the last of my chicken at the airport...

I brought a big purse on purpose!

I was actually stopped at airport security because of the amount of utensils I was carrying.

They were looking for a knife ~ Of course, I checked it in my luggage!

They then proceeded to ask me why I needed so many forks and spoons ~ I said I liked to eat. A lot ;)

**True story**

Once the interrogation was over, I was finally able to enjoy the last of my food....

Chicken and Spinach Salad

Needless to say...

I was happy to return to my BBQ...

I BBQ everything!!!

But most importantly, I was happy to come back to...

SuperFit!!!!
(He was actually preparing himself for his cycling trip to California the day after I arrived!)

He did not make a list...
But I certainly reminded him of things he'd need ;)

In the end..

Making sure I prepare myself during my pre-comp preparation is vital.

Ensuring I've written, typed, jotted down, sticky noted etc. everything I'd need for my time away is important!

Not being prepared and not having the essentials required during these last FU weeks leading up to my competition can greatly effect my results and....

I'm not about to take that risk as I'm committed to the end!

Not only am I going to make a list and check it twice, I'm going to triple & quadruple check it, just to be sure I'm not forgetting a thing!

Because...

I want to keep my muscles growing!

I've worked hard and I ain't about to flush my work
down the drain!!!

Coincidentally, I'll be going on the road again in a FU days from now so...

There's definitely a list in the making ;)

Stay Tuned for More on *CaNdY FiT*
